Dexed is a nifty little game that'll get you moving your arms about like a bit of a div, but it'll also fire up a few brain cells as you try not to bugger it up. It's not the mindless shooter you were expecting, but trust me when I say that it's worth a punt at a penny under a tenner.

If you want to challenge your ability as a gamer Dexed will definitely provide the challenge for you, but it’s not a title that I would say is a must own for PSVR users.

A short but incredibly cool game, DEXED might offer somewhat limited content but has a really good grasp on how to make an engaging game in VR. Not so much a tech demo as a proof of concept, I really do wish there was more here, because DEXED is an excellent experience.

This might mean that VR games never fit in with the current expectations of non-VR games, but when they’re stuff like Dexed, I don’t mind in the slightest. This is a game that focuses on immersion, and immersive it is. Simple gameplay loops give players a reason to keep coming back and playing more, but what will stay with you for far longer is just how beautiful it all is.

Dexed has the basics right and could have offered something unique for on-rail shooters in VR. However, after the 30 minutes it takes to complete the game, there's little reason to keep playing.

Dexed is one of the most boring virtual reality experiences I've had.

Dexed employs plenty of great ideas that could have been expanded on since its game jam concept. It can be completed fully in under a half an hour, with score chasing and trophy requirements being the only things to bring players back for more, many of which provide quite difficult challenges such as clearing all enemies on the highest difficulty and reaching certain score thresholds. The launch price does match the content, coming in at under $10, but I desperately wanted more, even if it drove the price up. Dexed is worth getting some time with for the unique ideas it provides, but don’t expect to spend a ton of time in Ninja Theory’s VR world.

Unfortunately, Dexed even with its arcade mode looks like a half an hour fun, which you can easily forget after. There is no feeling of adrenaline at high levels of difficulty, simplistic graphics, and the level of 3D immersion is insignificant. However, the price refers to the budget category. Given the fact that the Steam game is two and a half times cheaper in Russia, it can be assumed that in the future PS4 owners can expect a very nice discount. So, if you still want a cheap game for kids and parties, you can wait a bit.

DEXED brings the classic on-rails shooter genre into a new dimension splendidly and does a superb job of teasing an intriguing concept for a full game.

Dexed is a valiant first attempt by Ninja Theory in the VR space but it suffers like many other early VR titles by feeling more like a tech demo than a full game. When you factor in the price, you are getting an okay package, but it’s unlikely you’ll want to head back once you’ve played through the stages on offer for a few hours.

Dexed is the kind of thing you might play a few times, in short sittings, and never return to again. There's not enough here to earn your continued interest, and while the on-rails shooting works well and seems promising at first, the game it's attached to fails to build on that initial seed of an idea.
