From what I understand, it’s been a difficult journey for Dopterra, starting from their Kickstarter campaign, beginning in 2014 to being released on Halloween 2016, but you can see the love and passion the developers have put into Creepy Castle. It has a compelling story, charm and humor with a sinister undertone, throw back aesthetics, a memorable soundtrack (composed by Marius Schneider), and a fun and unique battle system.

Once you come to grips with what Creepy Castle is, you'll fall in love with it. The retro style is done well, warts and all, but it still manages to pull off a look that makes it stand out in a sea of other retro-themed titles. Gameplay is quirky enough that some may not appreciate it, but the various minigames give it lots of life. Most of all, the title oozes enough charm to make you keep playing even after you've lost a few times. For those who want something that's well-crafted but a bit off the wall, Creepy Castle is it.

While its world often lacks distinction beyond said notable color changes from environment to environment, there’s enough variance and all-round tension in the combat to make Creepy Castle‘s run-time a surreal but pleasant adventure to take.
