The Tales series has always found a way to satisfy my itch for a story rich JRPG with deep character development and exciting combat. In that regard, Tales of Berseria does not disappoint. The story is gripping from the very beginning and keeps hold throughout the entire game. When it comes to the new battle system, I felt that Tales of Bersaria proved to be easily accessible to newcomers as well as offer extra benefits to those who’d like to master it. Even though the environments lacked any big steps forward for series, I felt myself constantly exploring and enjoying every moment. Berseria has quickly become not only one of my favorite games in the series, but also one of my favorite RPGs of all time.

Tales of Berseria is, simply put, one of the best entries in the series. Its dark an emphatic story and additions to its familiar gameplay, turns this game in one fresh experience. Albeit it has flaws like a story with ups and downs or a linear design in all of its dungeons and map sections, this game offers so much content that will guarantee dozens of hours of entertainment. It is a game that every fan of the genre and franchise should try without exception.

Tales of Berseria is proof that with a more thoughtful approach to design, the series still has what it takes to stand tall among its RPG contemporaries.

Over-linearity and rubbish dungeon design bog it down a bit, but the combat, characters, and rather unusual plot still make Tales of Berseria a tale worth experiencing.

For anyone burnt by Tales Of Zesteria, this game is a step in the right direction. Anyone looking for a long, combat-rich JRPG with interesting characters should pick it up. It isn't going to change your opinion of the genre as a whole, but it does enough right to set it apart from other games like it.

Tales of Berseria is one of the best japanese role games that PlayStation 4 has to offer. It features an amazing story with a duration of at least 60 hours. This is how this genre of games should always be.

Tales of Berseria is a return to form for the JRPG franchise, with a captivating main story of betrayal and vengeance, satisfying real-time combat and an amazing cast of characters.

Despite its flaws, Tales of Berseria has numerous interesting stories to tell. If the developers had cut the flab and focused almost exclusively on the cast of characters – with some combat thrown in – then I think this would have been a must-play. As it is, I think it’s still worth playing if you’re a fan of story-focused JRPGs, as long as you know you’re strapped in for the long haul.

Despite the game’s lack of deeper exploration of dungeons and maps, the game offers plenty of new features such as the Expedition, where you can send a scout ship to gather items, recipes, items in different parts of the seas and the usage of a Geoboard to go around maps and lengthy walks.

Tales of Berseria is a great role-playing adventure game with a complex inventory system and one-button combat, where your success depends on correctly chosen tactics and equipment. Fans of the genre will not be disappointed. All the rest can wait for discounts.

Tales of Berseria is a surprise. The story and characters are dark, which is not expected of the series. The battle system got an upgrade, but the graphics have hardly improved. If you are looking for tens of hours of fun, this is the game.

Tales of Berseria is a title heavily focused on story and field combat rather than exploring the game world, which is relatively small. Still, this concept works, although we have to mind an obsolete visual layer of this game.

A combination of complex characters and gameplay makes this one as satisfying as it is enjoyable. Even if you haven’t played any of its predecessors, Tales of Berseria is more than worth your time.

Tales of Berseria is a game that doesn't drift far from the franchise, and while it won't disappoint the fans, newcomers might find it too niche for their own good. With its captivating plot, which allows us to embody the first female lead in the series, as well as its dynamic and perfectly oiled combat system, Tales of Berseria is probably what fans wanted since the letdown of Tales of Hearts. We regret however the lack of ambition in this episode and its technical delay in comparison to other Japanese productions, always more beautiful.

If your heart is still wounded after last year's undercooked Final Fantasy XV, try Tales of Berseria. Great storytelling will make up for outdated visuals for sure.

Even though firmly rooted in last generation sensibilities for the genre, Tales of Berseria takes something as old and trite as the revenge plot and refreshes it with a gorgeously realized world, filled with three dimensional characters and conflicts and fun combat. Does it break new ground? No, but it knows how to make something engaging from the treaded paths.

While Tales of Berseria isn't quite as good as the series gets, once this game gets its daemonic claws into you, it's hard to put down.
