Those who are looking to add some pointy-ears to their game will find a faction with a high skill ceiling and impressive design. At £14 for just one faction, however, you might want to wait until it’s on sale.

Total War Warhammer gamers, if you're on the fence and haven't already got the DLC yet, wait until you really get the Total Warhammer itch before picking this up. That way you can give it the attention it deserves as it's another expensive DLC. Its certainly worth the cost if you are going to play it properly, as it's fun and probably the biggest upgrade so far.

Realm of the Wood Elves is a solid addition to Total War Warhammer and a much needed one. As the first introduction of the Elves, the DLC does a fantastic job of delivering a great roster of units with unique gameplay mechanics that allow the race to play very differently to that of any other faction.

The Realm of the Wood Elves won’t change your mind if Warhammer wasn’t your cup of tea to begin with, but if you do enjoy the game, this DLC is the best and most value-for-money yet. It adds still another player to the colourful Warhammer world. And whereas previous DLCs (i.e. Chaos warriors, Beastmen) motivations have just been to destroy everything in their path, the Wood Elves’ goals are constructive and relatable. Playing it, you might just catch yourself wishing our own world had a few forest-Nazis to help spread the greenwood around.

The distinct Wood Elf play-style and economy leaf little room for error and aren’t for saps, but they’re a treewarding faction to master. Another solid branch in Creative Assembly’s ... [writer cut short by a flurry of arrows to the pun glands].

The Wood Elves are a worthy addition to Total War: Warhammer’s burgeoning list of fantastical armies. Distinct and terribly tricky, they make the game feel new again, while forcing half-arsed commanders like myself to up our game.
