Dead Effect 2 isn’t groundbreaking or bring anything to the FPS genre, however it does have a nice story to it and the ranking system allows the game to up itself at a steady and nice pace.

Overall and Dead Effect 2 is a game that offers a fantastic visual experience, but lets itself down with very basic issues. That said it is in no way a terrible game, and those looking for a viable first-person shooter should certainly give it a bash if you’re fed up with the usual titles on the market. If precision and polish is something you can’t look past though, then you may feel slightly disappointed.

"Without a doubt, Dead Effect 2 is the most enjoyable sci-fi, zombie shooter for twelve bucks. The story may be average at best but the gameplay and amount of options to utilize are awesome. I can't deny that I enjoyed shooting whatever Badfly threw at me, and the surprising amount of replayability the destruction offered. Considering this was originally a mobile game, I can see many people developing a guilty pleasure over this space faring adventure."

Dead Effect 2 has so many light elements from so many genres and brings it together into something pretty special.

If you were to tell me a month ago, that a mobile port would possibly be my favorite indie FPS, I’d have a hard time believing you. Yet here we are with Dead Effect 2, a game that more than satisfies my single player itch. Graphically it looks great, controls are nearly perfect and they managed to balance the gameplay to keep it challenging but not overly frustrating. Every kill and every dollar are meaningful and when shooters have meaning they are hard to put down.

Dead Effect 2 is rough around the edges, but anyone can see the potential in it just by playing a few of the missions. The gameplay felt like a first person shooter game made for the PS2 or early PS3 (when in actuality it was originally made for mobile devices), with stiff controls and predictable enemy actions. We never felt as though the older style of gameplay was a lack of development or creativity, but rather its own style that felt closer to a sense of nostalgia for us. It was developed by a small team, so its comparison to AAA titles should be nonexistent and is immediately noticeable by the price point of $11.99 across all platforms. Co-op is a major concern to some players (including ourselves), so it was disappointing, to say the least, that, on consoles, the game lacked the option to play in such a way when it was included on Steam.

Dead Effect 2 is the perfect example of how not to make a port of a mobile to console game. It is a 'free to play' game turned into a payment game, with bugs, repetitive and a totally absurd plot with a horrible gameplay. At least, they have not included micropayments like in mobiles versions and has got a good amount of weapons and customizable character features.

Dead Effect 2 is a game with big aspirations that simply doesn’t reach the heights for which it shoots.

Dead Effect 2 falls into the "so bad it's good" category of things with a certain B-movie charm to it. Just don't expect a technically polished shooter.
