Old Time Hockey Reviews
As long as you're not expecting a simulation heavy, photo-realistic experience, you should find something to enjoy in Old Time Hockey.
Old Time Hockey is just that--an homage to the 90's era of hockey video games--with NHL '94 being its closest comparison. It's a bit rough around the edges, but it honors hockey games of yesteryear, and should be played by us aging gamers who grew up in the 8 and 16-bit eras of gaming.
It has the recipe for success in the indie sports market, and could become one of the hits of 2017.
Overall, Old Time Hockey does need some polish in terms of play. Also, we wish there was an online mode so people could match up all over the world. The controls have that retro feel and the gameplay is easy for anyone to pick up. Plus, you can play on the couch with friends and drink while you’re at it. The price is right for this game though coming in at $11.99 it is a pretty good deal.
While, unpolished, Old Time Hockey offers a lot for fans looking for an experience outside of NHL.
Its the old school hockey game you need in your life right now!
Old Time Hockey brings back the nostalgia of old hockey games that I played with my dad growing up & I couldn't ask for anything more.
Old Time Hockey is great fun — a reason to invite a friend over
Old Time Hockey is not an ultra-realistic hockey sim, and it’s not trying to be.
The greatest thing about Old-Time Hockey is just how well-suited it is for whatever you might want to do outside of the usual EA Sports NHL fare – V7 Entertainment leaves it to EA to do what EA does best, while tailoring its own offering to everyone else.
All in all this game is fun to play. My little guilty pleasure of the year so far. Yes it does have some issues but if you can look past those any hockey fan will enjoy the break from fast paced over complicated NHL to a glory day slug fest arcade-like hockey game, especially PC users at a $11.99 price tag.
