In the end I can only say I had a boring time, that’s right, boring. The game by no means is bad. It can be quite good for some people but clearly I wasn’t impressed by it at all, everything from the gameplay to the art style just rubbed me the wrong way and just left me bored. If this game was for some mobile device or some kind of portable console I could maybe forgive a lot of the things. But as a game that’s on Steam where there is an absolutely countless amount of amazing games out I just can’t see this game working. And for the price of $8.99 you could buy something that has a lot more polish and care but into it. Monster Slayers for me at least is lifeless and dull with only a few redeeming qualities that I frankly, can’t even accept but I know other people could.

Monster Slayers is a fine game, it's an interesting take on turn based action with the unique deck system.

While I like TCG’s I don’t like cute, I don’t like repetitive games and I tend to not like roguelikes if they are too much like Rogue (in the move a square at a time sense). I was wrong. This is instantly engaging and highly addictive.

Monster Slayers is a neat and simple little game lacking in the strategy department with some irritating port issues stopping it from hitting the heights. A perfect game for turning down the volume and just listening to some audiobooks or podcasts while you slay, die and slay again.

Monster Slayers is quite an interesting rogue-like game. From the creators of Vertical Drop Heroes we get a mix of Hand of Fate and Darkest Dungeon. What can go wrong?

The amalgamation of RPG mechanics and deck building is sound, although neither component achieves the depth likely to be found in products dedicated completely to one or the other.

While not everyone enjoys the card battle system concept Monster Slayers does a pretty excellent job of making it interesting and rewarding if you take the time to get acquainted with it...

This noted, Monster Slayers is still a very addicting and solid game. I sunk a lot of hours into this game, and it's very cheap for how much enjoyment you can get from this game.

Monster Slayers is a good and fun dungeon crawler with a card twist that makes this one feel interesting during the many runs you'll need to do – at least if you want to add a new Platinum trophy for your collection! There are many classes to play as, several cards to upgrade and many options of how to build up your characters in subsequent runs, so you'll definitely find something to like as you try and make it to the end to bring peace to the realm.

Monster Slayers is a fun game and highly addictive game with a Platinum trophy that will take you a ton of time to unlock since it asks that you complete the game with every single character class, which pretty much means you need to unlock all permanent upgrades to be able to stand a chance. The random luck element of this one is high since depending on the cards you get from chests and when leveling up you will have an easier or harder time beating each dungeon and making short work of the bosses in your path.

Various RPG elements add a layer of depth to an already interesting combat system. The card element becomes addictive in a fun way, and slowly building up the characters is a task that many players will quickly come to enjoy. Most of the game connects very well with itself, barring the large issue of randomness in difficulty.

Even with a complex battle system, the harsh difficulty curve may be enough to turn many players off once they've completed the first dungeon. At the end of the day, the sheer joy of building a deck that suits your own playstyle is what makes this game special. Monster Slayers is one game not to overlook, if you're even remotely interested.

If you're a fan of deck building or dungeon crawlers then Monster Slayers is a must try. For the $9 price tag there is an insane amount of content and replayability.

All in all, Monster Slayers is a solid, easy to pick up and play kind of game. While it may not be as mechanically complex as other deck-builders, the variety and ease of gameplay make it a ton of fun to jump into.

Monster Slayers is a great blend of an RPG and a deck building game.  While it's not as complicated as traditional deck building games, it works really well with the RPG elements of the game.  If you're looking for something different than your traditional RPG…or deck building game for that matter…especially if you're a fan of Vertical Drop Heroes, you should really enjoy Monster Slayers.

Of the many roguelites I've played over the last few years, Monster Slayers is perhaps the most successful in offering enough variety and options to prevent the annoyance and frustration that so often accompanies repeated playthroughs.
