Parappa The Rapper Remastered Reviews
Though time may have drawn greater attention to PaRappa‘s opaque win conditions and sometimes wonky sense of rhythm, it’s still a ludicrously enjoyable blast from the past and a decent remaster from an aesthetic perspective.
A Very Lazy Remaster. PaRappa The Rapper Hasn’t Aged Well And None Of The Original Problems Were Fixed In This Remaster.
PaRappa the Rapper Remastered is a FAILED attempt to revive an old classic game.
PaRappa the Rapper Remastered does an okay job of bringing the classic forward. The gameplay definitely feels easier and looks prettier than previous versions, though one of the six songs is still fairly difficult. Combine this with only some of the graphics being upgraded and you have a decent game. Great if you want to relive the game you loved or see what this classic is like, but otherwise it does not have the funky flow.
The 90s legend tried to make a comeback, but it didn't work as anticipated. The game is still solid fun thanks to the great songs, but the video games have moved on considerably.

PaRappa the Rapper Remastered is a nice but short nostalgia trip for Fans of Rhythm games, if you can live with a good amount of input lag. The improved framerate and optical changes are still a nice add-on if the technical handicap doesn't bother you.

The loose design of the system embraces the loose nature of actual rap and hip hop.
PaRappa the Rapper is a legend, but even legendary status doesn't prevents its latest remasterization from being a let down. The charm is still there in the music and its visuals, the problem comes with the archaic mechanics and some technical issues. If only Sony would have went beyond the graphic remasterization, maybe the game could have fulfilled our nostalgic expectations.

PaRappa the Rapper Remastered suffers greatly from being a lazy port with no extra features. The lack of calibration settings stings, but those willing to overlook its faults will find a unique experience worth at least one playthrough.
PaRappa the Rapper Remastered is a unique game from its genre with a funny songs that stick in your head, but the issues with the timing and the length of the story makes it a good game only for the old fans.

The first rhythm game we ever had on a console is finally available on PS4 with a porting that, unfortunately, offers a simply upgrade of the graphics. No new modes or songs are available in this remastered edition, with almost no changes or improvements in comparison to the original gameplay that, today, seems to be not so compelling. Such a shame!

I'll always love Parappa. It's due to this love that I have to be harsh here because I expect better from the origin of rhythm games. We'll just have to believe if he ever comes back he makes a debut that feels like a modern rhythm game should.
PaRappa The Rapper Remastered is your occasion to play a PS One classic, now with the dynamic 4K support for PS4 Pro. Besides this, is exactly the same game of twenty years ago.

PaRappa The Rapper Remastered is an archaic and badly remastered return of the old game. The original had its own style, but PS4 version doesn’t add any new exciting feature whatsoever.

I love PaRappa and his ‘I gotta believe’ attitude, but this early rhythm action game no longer holds up. That’s no slur on its charming visuals, great music and superb animation, all of which look great in this HD update, but the gameplay just doesn’t really work. Enjoy PaRappa in your memories or on YouTube if you must, but this remaster will leave you thinking bad of the rapping pup and, really, who wants that?
PaRappa The Rapper looks amazing on its visuals but the gameplay hasn't aged that well. The lack of a tool to calibrate our screens maybe is the worst part of this new edition of the classic rhythm game.

PaRappa the Rapper Remastered is a great throwback aurally and visually, but the frustratingly tight timing required and delay of PaRappa’s audio samples make it a chore to play. It’s a shame that the menu wasn’t reworked to highlight the additional arrangements or to take advantage of how control schemes were updated over time, and I’d rather just listen to the songs than hear PaRappa freestyle his own messy groove over the tracks for the sake of a high score. Still, as frustrating as it can be visiting an old friend that never grew up, there’s something endearing about playing PaRappa the Rapper almost exactly as it played 20 years ago, with a fresh, vibrant coat of paint on its audio and visuals.
