Farpoint is a must-have game for any PSVR owner - so long as you're willing to drop the cash on the gun bundle. The story is good enough for what it sets out to do, but it's the meaty single-player offering and the online co-op that propels Farpoint to the higher reaches of the VR stratosphere.

Farpoint for the PSVR is probably what most people envisioned when this era of virtual video games was first announced. Simply put, this is the game that justifies a PSVR purchase. A system seller if you will.

Though Farpoint doesn’t boast much depth, and at times it feels like little more than a shooting gallery, Farpoint stands as a pivotal milestone in the journey of VR as a viable, successful platform.

A player may well forget that VR gaming is still in its infancy... Farpoint will certainly dull with time as the genre fully matures but it’s an important title.

Without mentioning the co-op, Farpoint offers not enough to keep you hooked in it's shallow world for more than 4-6 hours.

As a first-person shooter, Farpoint is serviceable. As a true first-person virtual reality shooter it’s a very encouraging starting point. As a proof of concept for Sony’s new aim controller peripheral it’s a revelation.

Is it the feature-rich, legitimately brilliant experience you’d gladly play outside of VR like Resident Evil 7? No, but it presents a convincing vision for the future of VR shooters, one its successors can both draw influence from and significantly improve upon.

If you're going to play Farpoint, then be absolutely sure that you get the lightgun. It adds everything to the experience, making the game one of the most immersive and fundamentally enjoyable shooters that I've ever played.

One of most immersive VR games where you'll feel like you're really fighting aliens, but the repetitive gameplay with its horde of enemies wears you down after some time.

Farpoint is weak as a shooter but strong as one of the most complete PS VR experiences. Playing it with DualShock 4 is acceptable but definitively the best way to shoot aliens is with the terrific PS VR Aim Controller. If you put aside the boring level design you'll have pretty good shooting action with the additional challenges.

In the end, Farpoint is an engaging game that although doesn't push the boundaries of what VR is capable of, it still delivers a fun yet ultimately short VR experience on the PlayStation 4. Overall, it's a fun premise with some really intense battles as you use the Aim Controller to take on an almost never ending hoard of aliens with an interesting yet cliched story as its backdrop.

Farpoint is an immersive and memorable experience...only when played with the AIM controller

An average first-person shooter redeemed by the Aim Controller accessory.

A bit of refinement and more unique situations could have made this a real classic, but Farpoint still succeeds in bringing first person shooters into VR with some fast gameplay and smart use of controls.

Farpoint is the first game that has made me believe that fully-fledged games could make use of the technology in order to provide a better experience. It's the most in-control I've felt whilst playing a game and without doubt the most I've ever felt immersed in a game world. Farpoint definitely doesn't have the most interesting story, and there's still some issues surrounding the length due to the fact that it is a full-priced game, but Farpoint is going to give gamers a world of hope, when it comes to VR.

Judged as a shooter, Farpoint is as generic as they get; thankfully, Impulse Gear's effort has other things going for it. ... If you've a PlayStation VR, this is definitely one for the library.

Awesome start for the new controller, but not without its faults. Using the Aim is wonderfully natural and it's great. I'm waiting for the next games for this piece of gear!

Presented as the first blockbuster for PlayStation VR, Farpoint is an interesting title. The game starts brilliantly, astonishes the player thanks to an unexpectedly pleasing tale, and shows an impressive use of the PlayStation Aim. Being an peculiar combination of an FPS and on-rail shooters, the gameplay works very well, but Farpoint loses grip in the last part of its adventure. It runs too fast, renounces to present original and interesting situations, but also to narrate a strong and convincing ending.

'Farpoint' brings sharp shooting to PSVR, but still falls flat when compared to non-VR AAA shooters.

I had fun with my first run through Farpoint's single player and the experience in co-op is just as great. Again the blurriness in VR when aiming isn't ideal, but the core gameplay is so satisfying when shooting stuff I tend to overlook it, plus the AIM controller needs to be the new standard controller for any VR FPS games.
