Overall, the design gymnastics Immortal Redneck puts itself through to blend free-form run and gun gameplay with unforgiving roguelike mechanics can be readily apparent sometimes. More often than not, though, it manages to stand up on its core combat loop. It's fun, it's fast - and that's kind of the only string to Immortal Redneck's banjo, for better or worse.
Immortal Redneck has clear influences and it takes concepts from Rogue Legacy or Ziggurat, but Crema Games has created a solid and fun game where we can also shoot mummies in the face.

Immortal Redneck works best as an occasional snack, or a palette cleanser, between heavier gaming meals. Playing for any length of time shows up its shortcomings, but in bite-sized pieces it's a good time. The game's humour is rank and dull, but it luckily doesn't detract from the rather pleasing colourful action the game provides.
If you're craving an undemanding shoot 'em up romp that has little time for niceties such as an actual narrative, Immortal Redneck's minimalist carnage just might do the trick.
Those who appreciate a good, straightforward shooter or a gritty, oldschool dungeon crawler should find plenty of enjoyment from this off-the-wall FPS.
However, buying enough stat boosts to really feel the impact takes a long time, and long runs that result in no meaningful progress frustrate. If you're looking for a solid, retro-influenced, first person shooter on Switch then this game is worth a look. Just be prepared to die and restart a lot.
Immortal Redneck is a blast of a game in a genre that we don't see enough of. It's not the first roguelike FPS that we've seen on PlayStation 4, and I wouldn't say it's the best, either. It does, however, have an exceptional aesthetic, clever level design, clean action, a decent difficulty curve, and plenty of longevity. A very worthy action game indeed.
Immortal Redneck is a unique blend of dungeon crawling and arcade-like, first-person shooting that, while fun to play, feels lacking in a few areas.
Immortal Redneck absolutely captivated me for several hours. The story isn't really the real thing, but a title like that doesn't need that either. I had my fun with Redneck, his dialect and appearance just fit. In the beginning I was highly motivated to find all the weapons, but unfortunately the content is quickly exhausted, but the scrolls loosen it up a bit, because with every pass there was the moment that I found a new one. That brought back the fun and motivation quickly. The talent tree is nicely built, I like this feature that you can see the tree growing in real life. Also the talents you get are not unnecessary. They feel important and in higher levels they also feel decisive for the game. The blessings bring even more depth to the game, because it makes an extreme difference in the way you play if you choose an offensive or defensive deity. All in all, I had fun with Immortal Redneck, even if I wouldn't have thought so at first, but Immortal Redneck has reached many emotional worlds of mine. I was motivated, challenged and angry. That's why I recommend the game to everyone who has fun with Roguelike titles like The Binding of Isaac or Slay the Spire and no problem with Permadeath and restarts. But you will be rewarded with new weapons and items.

If you're a fan of DOOM, Unreal Tournament and Quake, then Immortal Redneck will take you on a trip down memory lane with its mechanics peppered with Southern spice and a sprinkle of bullet mayhem.
Combining fast paced combat with wonderfully designed levels and an ample amount of customization, CremaGames knocked it out of the park with Immortal Redneck.
Immortal Redneck is ultimately a simple, fun game that is hard to master. Constantly replaying the same pyramid in order to progress sounds repetitive on the surface, but randomizing various key aspects changes things up enough to ensure the trip stays varied. Tongue-in-cheek humor with some of the weapons, but especially on literal objects such as the skill tree, help to dial down some of the frustrations of grabbing the occasional bad random scroll. All of this is packaged up in a sleek, cheap ($19.99) download and buttery-smooth, consistent frame rate that keeps the action going. Immortal Redneck is a good buy for those looking for a challenging arcade shooter that keeps things fresh.
Immortal Redneck is a fast paced FPS that has a lot of enjoyable aspects and replay value. With over 50 weapons to choose from, there is no lack of fun and exciting firepower at your disposal. The biggest problem I had with the game was the scroll system, repetitive temples, and what felt like an unrewarding grind. Overall, Immortal Redneck is well worth playing.
A frenetic and very fun experience. It works like a mix between Ziggurat & Serious Sam but adds interesting improvements.

Immortal Redneck is an old-school first-person roguelike with all the bells and whistles. It's tough but fair, fun and steeped in a silly aesthetic. Perfect for a reliable departure from your backlog.
