While the game does revolve around a dead child, it’s pretty lighthearted and fun. There is a joke maintaining that a character stop talking because they want a PEGI-12 rating (Which is what they have in the UK, but it appears it’s a 17+ game in other countries), there are some other questionable jokes and themes included, and overall it really feels like the developers are making this more for the older PaC Adventure fans than trying to convince a new generation to solve problems by jamming two weird things together to see how it goes.

The Wardrobe: Even Better Edition for Xbox is a good conversion. The transition from mouse to gamepad is almost painless. Years after his first release, the game is still good thanks to its iconoclastic humor and many, many geek references.

The Wardrobe is another contribution towards the growing catalogue of indie games on the Nintendo Switch and what it can be said of this point and click adventure is that it's simple and features a visual style that is easy to like. Where The Wardrobe disappoints, however, is when it comes to the player's immersion into the experience. The plot also feels like it serves no purpose too soon after starting the game and overall, this ends up harming the experience which feels rather incomplete.

The Wardrobe is a hilarious game, and so far it's the best point and click game I have played this year. The game just oozes charm from start to finish, and I couldn't put it down until I had beaten it. And when I was done, I was certainly ready for more, so here's hoping we get a sequel!

For fans of the point-and-click genre, The Wardrobe will be a game to check out–especially for those who loved the style of the 90s. Overflowing with references to basically everything related to gaming, movies, television shows, and even creepypasta, it's fun to pick out each one as they appear in each brightly colored scene to search around in. At times, the insults can become a bit grating, but overall the dialogue is cleverly written. Some of the game's puzzles seem a little ridiculous. For instance, when you finally figure out that you need to mix pills with sewer water in a beer mug to feed to a dust pile, it can be hilariously frustrating. The Wardrobe is a solid game, and even gamers who aren't familiar with point-and-click games will find it to be one that they should check out.

The Wardrobe is a point and click adventure that had a lot of potential, but it lacks what better games in the genre have done. The plot of the game is poorly held together by scenarios that barely make any sense, puzzle design leads to a lot of guesswork with very few clues to steer you in the right direction, and characters are mere plot devices. Yet the humour can be funny if a little crass at times, and while Skinny is a moody and annoyed character, his personality fits for someone who died suddenly in their teens. The Wardrobe had the scope to be better, but a lacklustre plot and strange puzzle design make its hard to recommend for point and click fans.

The Wardrobe is a graphic adventure with a vintage flavor, inspired by the myths of the genre. Its original premise, which blends perfectly with its macabre sense of humor, is enhanced by the enormous amount of winks -sometimes pretentious in the long run-, making it an ideal experience for nostalgic people. A death has never caused so much fun.

A decent enough point-and-click game with a dark sense of humour.

The Wardrobe is loaded with memorable characters, tons of pop culture references, funny dialog, and looks great on the Switch. The obtuse puzzles and somewhat short time to beat the game hold it back from being something truly amazing.

The value proposition for The Wardrobe leans heavily on how much frustration you’re willing to endure for the sake of the enjoyment of the ride. If you’re up for something fun and simply plan to hit a walkthrough when things get too obtuse (which will happen often) there’s certainly fun to be had. In addition, given the game’s price, the adventure takes a while to get through and has a lot of funny beats along the way. That said, not acknowledging how poorly the puzzles and flow of the game are designed would be a disservice, it’s sloppy at best and that makes recommending The Wardrobe a challenge.

A reliance on meta-jokes and pop-culture references, alongside irrational puzzle design leave this point and click adventure falling short of its true potential. Fans of the genre will likely find enjoyment here though, if only due to the obvious inspirations behind the game.

A hilarious point-and-click adventure, with tons of quotes from movies, tv shows, and games, and funny dialogues. The gameplay is pretty traditional, though even too cruel sometimes. Still, if you want to have some fun playing a decent adventure, this is a good pick.
