The cat-and-mouse gameplay is exciting and captures classic horror-movie moments – when the game actually works, which isn't often enough

Friday the 13th: The Game has a very interesting formula, but it needs to be polished in order to be completely enjoyable. It features the essence of the movies, but it has some gameplay issues that need to be addressed soon.

An ambitious and brave survival horror that suffers of technical limits, as well as of an asynchronous gameplay that goes too far in favor of Jason.

If Illfonic and Gun Media can rein in the many issues seen in Friday The 13th it will go down as a classic multiplayer game. Until then, it's simply wishful thinking.

Friday The 13th is a game of amazing frame work. For a game that revolves around the slasher killer and victim dynamic, it falls short due to just being about one killer and one movie franchise. If there were more slasher legends and more locations based on other film franchises, then you'd have a truly killer game; but at this time we just have another dud of a reboot.

Players can absolutely see the incredible potential of Friday the 13th: The Game. When the game works without issue, it provides a fantastic, tense experience unlike other asymmetrical horror games on the market.

Friday the 13th: The Game has a lot of potential, but is an incomplete game with only one mode e without the single player campaign. Right now is afflicted by many bug and glitches and it needs a lot of support and polishing.

Atmospheric, but bugged and illconceived tribute to the movie, that would have been much better as an early-access game.

As of now, Friday the 13th: The Game is unique and has its brilliant moments, but it's not a game I'd recommend picking up. It can be too dull of an experience. I think it's mostly diehard fans who will enjoy this the most at this moment. Despite all of this, I could see myself revisiting this game from time to time with some friends who are in it more for a laugh than a scare.

It's not just Jason that haunts this game. Bugs, lag, and lack of servers are the main horrors here.

This isn’t the worse licensed game I’ve ever played, but it was one that I feel a little disappointed in. I had fun and I had frustration. Only time will tell if I re-visit the game and have the time of my life.

Friday the 13th is a technical horror show redeemed by a fairly enjoyable core multiplayer experience. The nagging problem with that is that the stars have to align for players to achieve that experience in the first place. Time and effort will likely help make Friday the 13th a stronger package in the future, but time may well not be on its side if the player base dwindles rapidly.

Friday The 13th has a good gameplay concept, but it still disappoints. Counselors' gameplay is quickly redundant, and embodying Jason is cool but too occasional, but above all the game seems really far from being finished, and that's quickly frustrating.

Friday the 13th The Game makes an attempt at a killing but merely manages to fall on its own machete due to its clunky controls and limited gameplay options.

Despite being a fun game at its core (even with some issues presented in gameplay), a number of bugs and glitches in Friday the 13th: The Game make it hard to enjoy.

A great opprtunity gone to waste beacuse of the lack of content, numerous technical issues and terrible servers. It offers great ideas, but they end sunk at the bottom of Crystal Lake.

While the concepts are interesting and really have something special in mind, the execution and technical issues really hold back Friday the 13th from living up to its own hype.

Friday the 13th: The Game shouldn't have been released in the sad state it currently is in. From glitches that make players invincible to terrible matchmaking that had me waiting over 10 minutes to get into a room, it's putting it nicely to call the end product a mess. It's really heartbreaking to see since there are still positives that mange to shine through if one can look past the galling lack of polish. The core gameplay, when it works properly, can be fun when played with friends, and there are some refreshing ideas underneath the jank. Several months from now it may become the multiplayer hit it strives to be, but right now it's an embarrassing release that can't be recommended.

Friday the 13th takes its eighties theme a little too literally, ending up just like other movie-licensed games of the era — becoming an awful, sluggish disappointment. Despite the game's promising premise, Friday the 13th fails to keep its head above water. Avoid this game.
