countless bugs and repetitive levels are solid reasons for giving up on Agents of Mayhem, but if you love Saints Row series, it's worth a try.

Fans of Saints Row and Crackdown will find common ground in their love for this game. With all the humor and over the top antics of Saints Row, and the explosive, action, super powered combat of Microsoft's Crackdown franchise, Agents of Mayhem is a rip roaring good time for fans of third person, sandbox shooters.

Agents Of Mayhem is a highly entertaining, open world third person action game. It’s world and character design provide a unique and interesting take on the genre and combined with the animated cutscenes make for an overall enjoyable gameplay experience. It is let down by it’s repetitive mission structure and lack of online modes, but would still recommend it to any fans of Saints Row or anyone looking to experience a quirky take on the third person shooter genre.

Agents of Mayhem should be a good game, however it seems like Deep Silver wanted to do another Saints Row game and did things that way instead. Unlike when Capcom did this with Resident Evil and created the great Devil May Cry series, Deep Silver just made a Saints Row game with a different label on it. You'd think that after so many games in that series that we would get something different, but we didn't.

Shiny visuals, decent enough audio and sharp controls can't rescue Agents of Mayhem from an average review. While it's not worth buying at full price, once it drops to $20 or under it'll certainly be worth a consideration. Hopefully, by then the developer will have implemented some form of online play.

Agents of Mayhem is not a “Saint’s Row” and it’s not even close to it! Yet, it’s a great game featuring fun game-play and mechanism that can entertain its players for about 25 hours. If you’ve played all 2017 masterpieces and saved enough credits for the storm of October titles, you’d better buy the game.

There's so much to like if you're a fan of action cartoons but Agents of Mayhem is let down by repeated use of locations and annoying bugs.

I’m having a blast with Agents of Mayhem and find it to be the perfect nonsense game to just turn my brain off, have a bit of a laugh and blow shit up.

As much as it pains us to say this, Agents of Mayhem is a disappointing spin-off to one of the funniest video game franchises. An uninspired setting and uninspired gameplay make for a missable game. And that's too bad, as the Agents clearly had some potential as characters.

Agents of Mayhem deserves praise for its supporting art-style, voice-acting and excellent characters. However, it lacks the missions and gameplay that these parts deserve.

Agents of Mayhem is an uninteresting experience that has been offered in far better ways throughout the history of open-world shooters. That's not to say that it's bad - in fact, for a mediocre game, it can certainly be a fun distraction for a couple of hours. Unfortunately, its potential was thrown from a window, and what we got here is a repetitive shoot-fest that's enjoyable only when there isn't something better to play.

Agents of Mayhem screams mediocrity at every turn, and while it introduces some fun mechanics, it ultimately boils down to a boring FPS mishmash. It fails to stand out in any remarkable way, the attempts at humor doing it no favors.

Playing through Agents of Mayhem is a mixed bag, with great ideas thrown out the window in favor of explosions, and the creative messages lost in the process. The game ends up feeling unfinished.

Somewhere between the explosions, the jokes and the generic gameplay, there is some brilliancy to be found. The huge roster of weapons, upgrades and add-ons for the weapons and abilities that changes how you deal with your enemies, that also changes completely every time you change an agent. There's much fun to be had with Agents of Mayhem, but don't expect some deep touchy story to discuss for the evening – the story is on the level of a B level cartoon, but the jokes sparks some good laughs.

I’ve compared Agents of Mayhem to Saints Row a lot in this review, and perhaps some of you reading might think that unfair. I think it’s entirely appropriate, however, since at their core they are essentially the same game, and there’s even some canon crossover happening between the two. Agents of Mayhem is just a stripped down Saints Row with less charm and character, less willingness to embrace its own silliness, and dreams of being something like Crackdown. There are too many player characters with not enough customisation, and little point to there being so many for the lack of unique content in this title. Well done, Volition, you spent four years making a terrible version of one of your most beloved franchises. Please don’t do this with whatever comes next for Saints Row.

Agents of Mayhem fumbles more than it carries the ball forward for open-world games. There’s fun to be had, but with less frequency than its alternate universe brother, Saints Row. With this, Agents of Mayhem 2 needs to be more focused, and can be the revolution that Saints Row 2 was if they are to amp up the ridiculous and lean in heavier to the comedy that doesn’t rely on cheap jokes and vulgarity to get the point across. For what it is, Agents of Mayhem delivers an action-oriented shooter with lots of playable characters for interesting mix ‘n’ matching that falls short on gameplay and story, but has plenty to do to keep you occupied.

It’s definitely a fun game if you just want to lay waste on the world but other than that the gameplay becomes repetitive in time and it made me feel like once I’m done I don’t want to go back and play it. If you’re just looking for another open-world game to dive into, then go ahead and get it but if you’re after a game with an enriching story then this one is not for you.

Agents of Mayhem offers fast-paced and mindless fun filled with Volition's signature crude humour, but elements of it make it feel like a missed opportunity.

Despite its shortcomings, I enjoyed my time with Agents of Mayhem. I would love to see a patch in the future that would allow online cooperative play, but I can also understand why Volition elected to focus on making this a single player experience first and foremost.
