The first Final Fantasy XV DLC to ground us in a strong sense of character, the uncanny power of Prompto's solo mechanics give us a whole new understanding of Noctis' best pal.

Episode Prompto is more interesting than Episode Gladiolus. There's a story that explains Prompto's origins, a kind of open world with side and main missions and a different however functional gameplay. Furthermore, we have the best partner: Aranea. When the player finishes the story, there are some extra modes to play. Given its price, there is a lot of content. The problems are the uninspired bosses and the almost nonexistent difficulty.

It’s another short one overall at around two hours, but it is clear that lessons have been learnt from the laborious Episode Gladiolus, with far more variation and a character that has a backstory worth telling.

Overall, this chapter would have been better off being a wholly linear experience, like Episode Gladiolus, because of the lack of meaning to the extraneous content. It was an extravagant idea that could have had so much potential, but the effort feels like it was only met halfway and leaves far too much to be desired. But it is worth it for the devoted fan because Prompto's blindly optimistic character wasn't truly developed in the main story.

Episode Prompto is a far better chapter that Episode Gladiolus was. With a different but interesting gameplay, really good story and a design that moves away from being linear, this DLC has many good reasons to convince players to return to Final Fantasy XV.

Despite the average story, lack of leveling up and dubious balance, Final Fantasy XV: Episode Prompto is a good DLC with nice shooting elements, spectacular final battle and beautiful trips on a snowmobile.

A big improvement over Episode Gladiolus, Episode Prompto is a decent addition for fans.

An enjoyable addition that adds to the main game, unlike the first DLC. Combat is merely ok, but for those that enjoyed the main game this is a good addition.

By the time Final Fantasy XV is fully finished, most of its mysteries and interludes will have been explained. It's up to you if you want to discover them individually or all at once with the eventual Game of the Year edition (which might come a full year after XV's November 2016 release, given that Episode Ignis isn't dropping until December). For me the main story juice has been worth the squeeze, but the DLC has not.

Episode Prompto is a better experience than Episode Gladio but not by much.

Short and unsatisfying DLC that makes the prior one better than it was.

Fans that absolutely must get more story from FFXV’s interesting, but poorly fleshed out, world will get their fix. Anyone that didn’t care for FFXV before, will find even less to care about here. Episode Prompto is not great, but at least the music is nice and there’s an appearance by a fan favorite character.

Prompto’s outing is underwhelming at best, with the gameplay being subpar to anything that has come before it, the open world being nothing more than a blank canvas that you can't really do much with, and sidequests being rather redundant in the scope. Its only saving grace is Prompto’s continued character development from a weeping man-child to someone more mature and collected, ready to face the world ahead of him.

Episode Prompto is a mess of ideas that almost hit home.

Episode Prompto had so much potential in its character interactions and intriguing story, but the incredibly poor gameplay and empty time-padding makes this Episode a boring and sometimes borderline broken slog.

Final Fantasy XV: Episode Prompto plugs another gap in the main game's still woefully disjointed story, but a seriously shoddy mix of gameplay mechanics makes it a difficult DLC to recommend.

Truthfully, I don't know that anyone was really asking for the untold story of Prompto; but now that we have it, I find that I like him a lot more than I did. And of course, more Aranea is always welcome. If you're not already sick of Final Fantasy XV, it's a very fun two hours

Episode Prompto is fun to play, and it's nice to see the character fleshed out even more; however, the script is far too cheesy and suffers from such bad pacing that it's hard to recommend it to anyone but Prompto fans.

A few steps ahead from Gladiolous' DLC, but transforming Final Fantasy XV into a third-person shooter is not a winning idea.
