Pokken Tournament DX feels nice in everything it does. Which, for more casual fighting game fans who also love Pokemon is ideal. For those looking for a different fighting game, it’s best to look elsewhere, but, if you want an action-packed and easy to pick up and play fighter with a bit of colour, Pokken Tournament DX might be what you’re after.
Pokkén Tournament DX is a worthy port for those who played the original or are new to the title.
Pokkén Tournament DX remains a robust, fun and accessible fighter. It sports some incredible mechanics, with the seamless shifts between 2D and 3D planes easily helping to make each brawl feel exciting. But there isn’t much improvement on the original away from new content, meaning that those who have pummeled their opponents into submission on Wii U may be more conflicted about a second purchase – although it will be where the competitive community shifts to.
Pokken Tournament was a hit on the Wii U and while not an excellent game it is a solid fighter filed with some interesting Pokemon. However for each Pikachu Libre there is a Chandelure. With a roster of almost 1000 Pokemon you’d think they could have come up with a better lineup for the 21 fighters. While games like Mario Kart 8, Splatoon 2, and Arms do magnificent jobs of taking their respective genres and making excellent interpretations of Nintendo games Pokken Tournament DX only does an above average job for the fighting genre.
It may not be as deep and complex as some traditional fighting games. But the gameplay is solid and fun, and fans will love the Pokémon setting (the creatures and its attacks never looked so good). It has additional characters compared to Wii U game.

The first-ever Pokemon fighting game hits the Nintendo Switch following its initial debut on Wii U, expanding upon the experience and delivering a rather worthwhile fight title.
Pokken Tournament DX is the definitive release of Bandai Namco's Pokemon fighter. With more characters, modes, and other features, it enhances and improves on the original in a few key areas. However, it's not a complete overhaul at all, so those who never enjoyed the fighting mechanics will still want to stay away. If you're looking for a solid fighting game on Nintendo Switch though, you can't go wrong here.
Pokk'n Tournament DX is a good fighting game for the Nintendo Switch, that uses the features of the system to offer local versus with two players having a Joycon.

Arms has already hit Nintendo's hybrid system, a title that offers a truly unique fighting game experience, but Pokkén Tournament DX manages to also standout for bringing its own incomparable type of fighting gameplay.
Pokkén Tournament DX won't exactly draw in those who aren't interested in fighting games or who've already played the version released on the Wii U, but it does offer a fun system to fool around with to those waiting for a train or sitting on a toilet or something.
On the Nintendo Switch, Pokkén Tournament DX has the added value of portability, as well as an improved visual performance that adds up to its simple and effective combat system. While the single player mode still has its limitations, this is a welcome improvement over the original game.

These are just minor complaints in an otherwise fantastic fighting game, however. Pokken Tournament DX is still one of the most well-executed fighting games that's able to cater to casual players, while also delivering enough depth and complexity to master for those looking for it.
Pokkén Tournament DX is a bit odd, because although I can't help but sing its praises, not much here is new, and I don't actually know who was asking for a resurgence. Still though, the Pokémon fighter is loads of fun and still looks like a great spectacle in motion - the supers just look fantastic. But if you're looking to play this by yourself, you're likely to be very disappointed.
The Joy-Cons themselves can also be uncomfortable to use and take away from "play with anyone, anywhere" vibe that this game has going for it at face value. If you missed Pokkén Tournament on Wii U and are a fan of fighting games, I highly recommend it, as it is easy to get into and brings some interesting changes to genre. That being said, it really isn't worth double-dipping with Pokkén Tournament DX, as this version doesn't add too much to the core experience outside of a couple new fighters.
Taken on its own merits this is comfortably one of the the best fighting games on the Switch right now, and offers surprising depth, stunning presentation, brilliant offline and online multiplayer modes and bags of replayability.
Pokken DX looks great and plays better, delivering the kind of real time action series fans have dreamed of for years, while also addressing the flaws in the Wii U release.
If you are a Wii U veteran of the series, there may not be enough here to warrant a second purchase, but diehard Pokken fans will want to check it out. Pokken Tournament DX is another fantastic Switch release and a game that fighting fans will want to check out.
Pokken Tournament Deluxe is a knockout fighting game that's perfect for the Switch. With new characters, revamped game modes, and the ability to take the game anywhere, this is one Pokémon game you should fight for this fall.
Pokkén Tournament DX is an enjoyable fighter that provides plenty of fan-service for hardcore and casual fans of the beloved franchise. It's also a surprisingly deep experience, now equipped with more fighters and stages than ever before on Nintendo Switch.
