F1 2017 is certainly a good F1 simulation and the career mode will keep many people busy for months to come

F1 2017 is marred by the immense shadow that is F1 2016’s greatness. It goes at great length to try and build upon what was started last year, but doesn’t polish it, or make it different, enough for it to stand out. If you are looking for a simulation racer for Formula 1, and you don’t already have F1 2016, then F1 2017 should be bought.

Codemasters once again tried to update F1, but every year, with new releases, base game becomes more boring, just like real "Formula 1", where one or two teams are fighting for titles. The game needs a fresh look. We hope to see a completely updated physics and more realism in the next one.

F1 2017 is perhaps the biggest game in the franchise to date, but still feels strangely empty as its new content doesn't really change things enough from the previous games.

Many were starting to get worried about the F1 series, but last year inspired hope yet again and now F1 2017 takes that an improves on it just enough. You certainly won’t find anything overly groundbreaking, but the new vehicle management setup and classic cars do just enough to get you back in that car for a victory lap with F1 2017.

F1 2017 is another leap from last years game. While it won't reinvent the wheel, the addition of classic cars, a more in-depth career mode and tougher AI makes it a significant improvement on 2016.

Ultimately, despite all its attempts at becoming a story driven title, F1 2017, just like its predecessor F1 2016, remains nothing more than a racing sim. Yes, it has an immense amount of mechanical depth, and the core driving mechanic, regardless of the setting, is incredibly enjoyable. But the title as a whole is like a fishing rod without a hook. The rod is there, and so is the string, but the bait is simply tied to it, and the second one grabs onto the bait, they’ll swim away. And that’s because there’s nothing to keep one attached to the hypothetical rod once the bait is gone. And unfortunately, the average gamer, despite the early impressions, will most likely abandon F1 2017 within a week, and only the old guard of the franchise will stand by it until the next year’s iteration.

Codemasters has tweaked and refined a Formula one driving experience that is, as of writing, unrivalled. Project Cars 2 lurks just round the corner, but it would require an awful lot to overtake this.

For all the F1 fans, this game is a must play. Historical vehicles, better career mode and fun physics model are the main pros of this game. Despite the weak AI and various minor faults, the game will provide enough enjoyment for tens of hours.

Codemasters has done a fantastic job in simulating F1 races for the fans. Drive on different tracks around the world and compete with Formula 1 champions. F1 2017 lets you feel every bit of Formula 1 as fits a professional. The best F1 game ever.

F1 2017 feels like the final realisation of several years of work, but it also ushers in another phase for the annual series. In terms of core gameplay, the handling models, the force feedback, and the physics engine have all been drastically improved, resulting in a greater sense of control and a much better chance of interpreting the car when its forces are out of balance. Improving this core gameplay aspect alone, whilst addressing the major bugs of last year (like the dodgy AI), leads to a much more immersive and authentic driving experience. Overall, considering the impressive amount of additional content - especially new short course variations, the introduction of classic cars, the new championship mode, the redesign work on many existing tracks, and the improvements to presentation and cut-scenes - F1 2017 certainly is an impressive package, which hardcore fans will find difficult to resist.

F1 2017 bring us a fine tuned, well balanced, fun and compelling, and hugely satisfying racing game that can be recommended to motorsport enthusiasts without hesitation- but it can also be recommended to newcomers, if with some caveats. That is perhaps the game's greatest accomplishment.

While not the most novice-friendly racing game, those who put the hours into Codemasters' latest F1 title will find it a worthwhile endeavor. The on-track action is great, and the level of customization is rarely seen even in other simulations. Unfortunately, a lot of the finer racing concepts aren't introduced well and the gigantic R&D tree can be overwhelming when first seen during the career mode. If players can get past that, they'll have a blast.

Aside from some graphical issues F1 2017 really impresses. The racing is as brilliant as ever – with endless possibilities to create your own F1 experience. An improvement over last years installment in every way.

It is impressive that, as a racing game, F1 2017 is a title that genuinely offers something for everyone. At its core though, Codemasters' title is obviously a simulation that has been pitched to F1 enthusiasts. Those players should find themselves more than satisfied with the variety of content, level of detail and complexity that's included.

F1 2017 flies across the finishing line in great form. Codemasters' latest has captured the off-track trappings of the world's most popular motorsport with a hearty R&D component that forms the backbone of its campaign. But behind the wheel the title fares just as well, with the Career mode implementing Invitational events to break up the routine – many of which are designed around a robust selection of historical rides. Factor in the rule altering Championships and a handling model that's able to accommodate a wide range of skillsets, and you have a racer deserving of its podium place.
