Football Manager 2018 Reviews
Football Manager 2018 is very good at what it does, the problem really is that what it does, is for a very specific subset of people, and to anyone outside of that it's a game that feels far too often like you're doing your taxes. It can't be called bad, but I lament the lack of newcomer friendly features.
While still liable to take over your every waking hour, Football Manager 2018 takes the delicate balance of previous years and weighs it down with too many superfluous, or downright irritating, changes.
For those looking to rise through the ranks from amateur to professional football, or start at the elite clubs and prove your mettle, Football Manager 2018 provides more immersion – and demands even more dedication – than any other game in its class.
Rating Football Manager is a two-pronged affair. As the premier management simulator, it's (literally) unchallenged. As an iterative installment, FM2018 is broadly desirable, but with some feature and UI missteps.
Football Manager 2018 won't take your breath away but it will satify you if you have to play the new FM game right now. Otherwise I'd advise you to wait untill March, when the big patch hits.

Crack-like, divorce-initiating football-management sim adds a 'utility player' or two
Football Manager 2018 does not show anything extremely revolutionary or new, trying rather to start from what was good in the past. Compared with the beta, many problems have been eliminated, but there is still some annoying. Ultimately Football Manager 2018 is a very good title even though there hasn't been the leap of quality that we would have expected.

Football fanatics will adore any edition of Football Manager - being the latest release chock-full of new features while still keeping what made the previous games great, there is no better place to start learning than here.
Sports Interactive have once again upped the ante. Football Manager 2018 is still the king of the sport manager genre.

At its heart, Football Manager 2018 remains a compelling experience, delivering rollercoaster highs of conquering the world while battling the agonising lows of relegation and sackings. The problem is the first signs of weariness are really starting to show themselves in this year's edition. It is like an ageing star in the twilight of their career; more than previously, there is a lack of genuine innovation from a team of developers who are held up to an exceptionally high standard. For sure, there are some welcome additions; the performance of the 3D match engine, alongside the revamps of scouting and medical teams, for instance, show that Sports Interactive does take refinement seriously. However, the continuing focus on the aspects most fans of the series find the most tiresome - the social media and player conversations - portray a worrying trend of the wrong path being pursued. The fundamental strengths of Football Manager remain, yet it seems a better strategy these days is possibly to pick up the title every two seasons for the best 'bang for buck' factor. For the annual buyer, this year's might prove a tougher pill to swallow and could well be deserving of one mark lower.
Football Manager 2018 is an engrossing, addicting experience and one of the richest simulations available. Some interest in soccer is recommended for players of this top-notch sports title and uniquely capable storytelling vehicle.
Football Manager 2018 does not revolutionize the series. It is still relying on the facts of its success and refine them with new tools. You never change a winning team as a manager would say. You just need to train it again and again to make it better.

Football Manager 2018 is a great game, but that's mostly down to the sheer depth of the series on offer from previous years. A few new features here are fun as ideas, but I'd like them to have a more meaningful impact in-game.
For those deep into to the series, Football Manager 2018 brings several upgrades to the table. They might not work flawlessly as of yet, but do sure show great potential. The somewhat clunky UI and feature-fest might feel intimidating for new and old players alike, though.

The best new Football Manager in several years, and although the improvements are still minor they create a more nuanced and realistic experience than ever before.
Football Manager 2018 will not be remembered as a milestone in the franchise, but it is a game with significant improvements (like the dynamics system or the medical center) that will please die hard fans.

Football Manager 2018 is another remarkable installment in this beloved series that take some things to the next level and as usual neglects some of the more fundamental issues.

Football Manager 2018 is a bigger, deeper and more complex episode of the saga. The best football universe simulation features a lot of new mechanics which give to the managers the chance to feel, manage and understand even better their teams. The evolution is amazing, but lacks of a real update to the UI, too old and chaotic, a little bit of polishing, with some dynamics which need to be fixed with the upcoming updates, and some issues in terms of hardware optimisation.

New year, new Football Manager: this time the people at Sports Interactive added some great features in the scouting department, the medical centre and dynamics, but old problems like the frequency of injuries and the poor media simulation still linger. All considered, a very solid effort nonttheless.
