SteamWorld Dig 2 Reviews
SteamWorld Dig 2 is a masterfully created exploration-platformer in a Metroidvania package. If Dig 2 could offer an additional difficulty level, introduce more boss fights, and capitalize on the potential of the world and story, this could've been extraordinary. As it stands, it's an incredible experience and excellent value for fans of the genre or video games in general. One has to bear in mind that we are talking about a $20 indie game made by a small team, so Dig 2 is far from a full-fledged AAA experience. What's astonishing is how the title manages to capture and entertain us during its runtime and beyond.
SteamWorld Dig 2 is a really great relaxer that will certainly shine a little more on portable gaming devices. It is on the go that he is an ideal companion to impress you. Really well-crafted tasks, simple yet interesting story or very pleasant gameplay are a guarantee of fun.

Steamworld Dig 2 is a great sequel. Everything from its predecessor has been improved making the experience funnier and even more adictive. The exploration feels so natural that it doesn't matter if you play some minutes or several hours, it will still feel great. A must have for those looking for an awesome metroidvania.

For those of you looking for a game to work at; a game to break apart piece by piece, finding every secret, and beating every challenge. For those of you who like item progression, and the slow but sure enhancement of movement and gameplay. For those of you looking to continue your SteamWorld saga. This game is for you. This is a love letter to collectors, to diggers, but sadly remains a flawed jewel.
For fans of previous games in the franchise, SteamWorld Dig 2 is an absolute must play that lives up to its siblings, and for everyone else it's a perfect opportunity to see why these games have garnered so much praise.
Once again Image & Form continue to pour heart, soul and quality into their games. Steamworld Dig 2 is another near perfect entry in the Steamworld universe, and the enhanced art design makes me wish that they go back to both the original Dig and Heist and update them and release them on the Switch. I would be the first in line to buy them again.
SteamWorld Dig 2 is perfect fit for users of portable gaming devices, such as Nintendo Switch or PlayStation Vita. But game will look great on a big screen TV too.

In summary, SteamWorld Dig 2 is a stellar addition to the Switch, and it's a great throwback to the classic 2D platformers and side-scrollers of yesteryear. There's more to the game than just the main story mode, and going off the beaten track to discover side quests, relics and other secrets is very rewarding. From the unique plot to the charming visuals, SteamWorld Dig 2 excels from the off. I especially loved the Western style music, which suits the theme of the game really well. Indie titles have been flooding onto the Switch since its release, and the highly-impressive nature of them has me excited to see what comes out next.
And, after the credits roll once you reach the cataclysmic conclusion to SteamWorld Dig 2 it is worth taking a moment to look back at the map. Where SteamWorld Dig had really only let the player dig downwards, the network of makeshift tunnels that you carve out in the sequel are a reflection of the personal journey that you have taken. And that freedom, above all else, can be seen as the game’s greatest success.
SteamWorld Dig 2 is a game that should be played by every fan of metroidvani and the original Dig. A phenomenal position that will satisfy every malcontent. Worth every penny, for fans of 2D games a mandatory purchase.

The fans of the first game may be miffed at some design choices, but the overall design makes all nitpicks easy to overlook for an enjoyable grind.
Where the first title came up short because it was over so quickly and the monotony could set in, SteamWorld Dig 2 goes the extra mile by introducing a ton of fun new abilities that open up the world in all directions, putting platforming skills to the test throughout a greater range of diverse locations. Whilst the main game is still over fairly quickly, it is time well spent with Dorothy, and there is plenty to seek out for anyone that can't get enough of all that scavenging.
SteamWorld Dig 2 is everything that's expected from a good sequel. The gameplay loop is just as engaging as before, but there are some much nicer tools this time around.
SteamWorld Dig 2 is a beautiful and charming game with a satisfying mixture of exploration, puzzles, and mildly challenging platforming. The more treasure you collect, the more abilities you unlock, which in turn, lets you collect even more treasure. It's a simple yet addictive loop that pushed me forward until I beat the final boss. Unfortunately, the lack of a compelling endgame meant I didn't have much motivation to continue past the ten-hour mark.
Steamworld Dig 2 is by far the biggest surprise from 2017, and while it took a while for me to get to this title in the queue, I’m really happy I eventually did, as this quickly became one of my favorite games to come out during the entire year of 2017! Expanding a concept that I saw great potential in three years ago, and letting it grow into a behemoth of a Metroidvania with lots of love and polish makes this game an adventure that everyone really should give a shot, even if you haven’t played the first one.
SteamWorld Dig 2 takes the blueprint of the first game and injects more adrenaline. It plays as beautiful as it looks. This game can cause an addiction. It's definitely highly regarded for multiple reasons. A fresh take on metroidvania with smart platforming and puzzles into the mix. Just moving around doing what you need to evolves into its own reward. Just buy it.
"The golden age of mining games."

SteamWorld Dig 2 is a wonderful sequel to the already impressive SteamWorld Dig, and this 3DS port of last year's Switch release does not disappoint. Taking everything that was great from the original, and improving it even further, SWD2 can stand proudly near the top of the list of 'must play' titles on the Nintendo eShop.
Image & Form have continued to impress with their output on Nintendo's newest toy as of late, however, it's nice to see the developer hasn't forgotten its handheld roots either. SteamWorld Dig 2 on 3DS is a great version of the excellent sequel making it an ideal alternative for those that have yet to take the plunge on a Nintendo Switch.
Image & Form has crafted an excellent sequel that's bested its predecessor in sizable ways. All Nintendo fans would do well to look at this game, either in HD or 3D, and consider adding it to their collection.
