Hidden Dragon Legend has some brief moments of fun, but they're all lost in its terrible story, clumsy platforming, boring combat, and ugly graphics.

The storytelling is lackluster and it manages to make combat, what should be the core of an action game, into something that toes the line between tedious and unfair.

Hidden Dragon isn't terrible, but it's sorely stuck not one, but two generations in the past. The sidescroller is by no means dead, yet those working in this shrinking subgenre are either emulating its most celebrated champions or pushing the boundaries with something new and inventive. Hidden Dragon does neither, nor does it have the visual oomph that can often help overlook a game's shortcomings.

There's an alright game somewhere here as the setting is well done just like the enemy designs, but it isn't presented in a way that showcases its potential.

Hidden Dragon: Legend has a lot of technical and perfomance issues. Combined with its bad writing, it is going to be a bad experience for any player. The game needs a lot of fixes that could come with an update patch. So, with that in mind, you have been warned.

Hidden Dragon Legend is the classic example of a game trying to be bigger than it's potential budget or development. There is a great idea here marred by too many issues for me to really recommend this to anyone except the hardcore action or indie supporters. There is fun to be had, but it comes with serious caveats.

There are way worse games out there, though, and while I'd never personally recommend Hidden Dragon Legend to anyone, if you like the setting, style and the sound of it and you've got money to burn, you might as well give it a go, I guess.

Hidden Dragon Legend tries to do more than it can truly do. The combat system is deep but with too many problems, many game sections are frustrating and the game has overall bad animations.

Hidden Dragon: Legend is an indie title that offers an initial burst of satisfying combat, but that quickly devolves into a tedious stream of identikit encounters coupled with platforming that feels like a tacked-on afterthought.

In general it's a mediocre game, with a gameplay that only has some good moments. Although the combat system can hook a little, the inconsequential phases of platforms and repetitive clashes will cause you to lose patience before exceeding half of their levels.

Hidden Dragon Legend starts off as a promising side-scrolling hack and slash and quickly devolves into a repetitive combat and inconsistent platforming mess. The game also suffers from a lack of polish especially for the story cutscenes where the visuals are widely inconsistent with stiff animations.

Overall, Hidden Dragon Legend is a middle-of-the-road effort: there are certainly a number of people out there who will be able to work through its less-than-polished mechanics long enough to enjoy the silly story, which is reminiscent of classic Chinese action cinema in the best possible ways.

Hidden Dragon Legend is a side scrolling soulslike that thinks that people like Dark Souls just because it's difficult and that's disappointing because part of the game seems to understand the reward of challenging game play. It's such a shame because the good half of this game is *really* good.

Irritation, frustration, and maybe boredom will begin to seep in after the initial fun, making this platforming adventure less than legendary.

Ultimately, Hidden Dragon: Legend is a fairly average beat-em-up/platformer, but its sky-high production values and sheer love of spectacle is sure to delight players.

Great game all around. The combat is satisfying, the upgrades are cool, and the wuxia elements that make the genre fun are all present. Definitely recommended for fans of platforming beat ’em up games.
