Yakuza 6: The Song of Life is a fine entry of the Yakuza series, but a poor way to end the story of Kazuma Kiryu.

Yakuza 6: The Song of Life is one of, if not the, most touching games in the long running series. It offers a fitting end to Kazuma Kiryu's story and gives the series a change of pace (Onomichi and its people are great). It's just too bad that SEGA didn't go the remaster route (on Xbox Series X|S) as the game feels a bit weird running at 30 fps in 2021.

As far as the quality of the port goes, it’s pretty excellent overall. The controls are great, the visuals look about as good as they possibly can without reworking some of the art, and after you ease in, all of the nitpicky details fade away as you enjoy a romp through lively, detailed, smooth-as-silk renditions of Kamurocho and Onomichi. This is, quite simply, the best Yakuza 6: The Song of Life has ever looked or played, and if you’ve been waiting for the PC release to experience it, you’ll be delighted with the final product.

‎Unique in its kind and treasured by the true essence of Japanese, the saga by ‎‎Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has‎‎ always given us a power of 200 hp to reveal an experience of ‎‎empathetic attitude.‎‎ One that has been armed with reputation, honor and paternalism, among other values. An experience that in this sixth installment is illuminated by a renewed Kamurocho and an Onomichi away from the worldly noise that put the golden brooch to a truly majestic presentation. In the present case, the opening and closing of a presentation starring Kazuma Kiryu. It's not the perfect closure we've all hoped for, but it effectively manages many feelings of our own and others.‎

‎Yakuza 6: The Song of Life is a tribute to Kazuma Kiryu and his own. This farewell to the legend of the Dragon of Dojima is as emotional as it is fun, powered by the Dragon Engine that provided the face wash the saga needed.‎

With the launch of Yakuza 6: Song of Life, the saga of Kazuma Kiryu reaches its conclusion on PC and Xbox as well. The two years that passed since its launch on Sony consoles have provided it with technical improvements that, especially on PC, made the game's visuals more in line with the times. Compared to Yakuza 0, the combat is a bit on the stiffier side, but still satysfying, and Yakuza 6 is a worthy final chapter in a fifteen-year long narrative arc.

If you’ve spent hundreds of hours with Kazuma Kiryu over the years, then the conclusion to his sprawling arc in Yakuza 6: The Song of Life won’t disappoint. And if you haven’t played a Yakuza game before, you’ll still get a whole lot out of this. Yakuza 6 is a sensational game.

The setting of Onomichi proves that the long-running series still has some tricks, making Yakuza 6 a worthy finale for its main protagonist.

Yakuza 6: The Song of Life is a must-play for long-time fans wanting to see how Kazuma Kiryu’s story ends. The game was released on more powerful hardware and brought the series up to a new generation’s standards. It does the same with this PC release, but sadly much of what held it back narratively before is still present today.

Coming off the incredible Yakuza 0 and the first Yakuza remaster, Kiwami, Yakuza 6 is at a high point in the series popularity here in the states. Thankfully this latest entry in the series will continue that high as it gives fans more of what makes these titles great.

Yakuza is undoubtedly one of SEGA's most iconic series, in which you play the role of Kazuma Kiryu, the dragon of the Dojima family in their incredible and sometimes crazy adventures.

Yakuza 6 is the final journey of Kazuma Kiryu. It is action, emotive and a catching ending of veteran hero.

The Dragon of Dojima returns for one more adventure, with the stakes higher and more personal than ever in this touching farewell to a Yakuza legend. With a tale that closes the book on a long-running saga, Kiryu's farewell results in a story that is as satisfying to watch as its gameplay is as underwhelming to consume.

Ultimately, Yakuza 6 is a confident, self-assured game. Despite some of its technical issues and simplified combat mechanics, there is no other game currently available on the platform which quite combines its mature story, multi-faceted characters and offbeat side missions. The story is full of heart and charm and is bound to stick with players long after the credits roll. Yakuza 6 is a fitting send-off to series mainstay Kazuma Kiryu and is one of the more memorable games on the PlayStation 4 in recent memory.

Yakuza 6: The Song of Life is the modern Yakuza experience that you've been waiting for, with a couple of caveats. It has everything that you can love from a Yakuza game such as the fun activities and wonderfully realised world, but it also has an extremely mature and emotional main narrative that deserves your attention. The combat is its weakspot with it being simplified to the point where it's repetitious and some aspects can be shallow. However, it is a fine swan song for the legendary Kiryu and you still can't find something quite like it out there.

Is the closing of Kiryu's chapter in Yakuza 6 fulfilling? Honestly I would say no. I expected a bit more from it going in, but does it make sense? Absolutely.

It focuses on the minutiae of the world, from the detailed shop interiors that serve no purpose other than to ground you in the setting, to the nearby citizens who go about their daily business as anarchy unfolds around them in your wake. But perhaps the greatest feat of all is that the game trusts you, the player, to find it all yourself. By refusing to hold your hand and lead you from A to B, it gives you room to explore, to procrastinate and breathe between story steps, and it's in those moments of respite that you'll find the best of what the Yakuza series has to offer.

The fittingly titled “Yakuza 6: The Song of Life” gives beloved protagonist Kazuma Kiryu his swan song as the Dragon of Dojima picks one final fight. The new combat will admittedly be hit or miss for folks and the story doesn’t quite stack up to the series’ best. Despite that, however, Yakuza 6 remains a stellar entry in Sega’s open-sandbox, crime drama formula that also manages to retain the the franchise’s charm, heart and — more importantly — tacky karaoke stylings.
