Mario & Luigi look great on the 3DS, but why does this game have such a problem with numbers?

Superstar Saga is still a great adventure on the 3DS. It's not in the range of Metroid: Samus Returns in terms of recreating a classic from the ground up, but it may be enough to satisfy fans of the series that may have been turned off by recent, weaker efforts such as Dream Team and Paper Jam.

Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions is a game for fans of the 2003 title. The upgrade in controls, visuals and the addition of Bowser's Minions will certainly make this a worthy purchase. For newbies of the title, the controls are probably going to get in the way of entertainment, which is not what you want when you're trying to sell it to new/young gamers.

Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga is still the best game in the series, and a must-have for 3DS owners that haven't played it before. Charming, great value and tons of fun.

While Superstar Saga may be a bit simplistic for more advanced players, its nostalgic appeal and overall fun is enough to justify its existence.

Although Bowser's Minions falls short of adding value to the package, Superstar Saga is still an excellent Mario RPG and one that holds up very well in today's 3DS catalog.

For many, tacking playable goons onto Superstar Saga won't be enough to revisit the world of Beanbean Kingdom mostly because the campaign is still the same uneven adventure it was before. But even though many will see the minion angle as a throwaway, I loved creating and molding my own little army bit by bit, and found it to be a worthwhile distraction.

Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions is a great opportunity to catch up the original GBA-game in a mordern way. Even fourteen years after its first release gameplay and storyline are as magical as back then. The battle-system is really addictive due to its strongly action-paced mechanics and the typical humor of the Mario & Luigi-titels is charming as always. The newly introduced is also a nice addition but lacks the depth one is used to in the main game.

The addition of Bowser's Minions does little to deter players from the fun, humerous and enjoyable experience that is Superstar Saga. The updated graphics bring the game into the modern age and the use of features from more modern titles helps to make an already enjoyable game easier to access. A must for fans of the franchise and a strong recommendation for anyone who wants to enter the world of JRPGs.

At the end of the day, however, I think the majority of people are going to play this game for the main Superstar Saga story, so what you are getting is an extremely good game that if you have never played the original, then I truly envy you. The new style they have gone for is great and it works really well to show off the emotions and charm that all of the characters possess. The improvement in graphics over the original is quite drastic but the original has its own charm and is not bad by any means. The music likewise is top-notch with plenty of great remixes of old songs and originals that will get stuck in your head all day. So all in all, while it isn’t perfect and the new Bowsers Minions mode that has been included is a bit hit and miss, it’s still a very enjoyable experience all-round. If you’re new to RPG’s and want to give one a go, then this is a great place to start. Like it did with me 14 years ago, it may make you a fan.

This is a great place to start for newcomers to the Mario & Luigi series and fans of the original Superstar Saga will appreciate all the subtle changes that improve the experience, but if you didn’t enjoy Bowser’s Inside Story or Dream Team, this 3DS remake isn’t going to be able to win you over. It’s still a great game after all these years; it’s fun to play, funny and packed with Nintendo charm. In the words of Fawful: “I HAVE CHORTLES!”

A fine remake of a good game is still good, but it also feels unnecessary.

Thank goodness for "kiddie" games. The original Mario & Luigi game returns with a fresh coat of paint and an extra mode that celebrates Bowser's charming and adorable lackeys. Exploration could be better and the Bowser's Minions mode could be a bit more fleshed out. Its highly amusing dialogue, however, combined with its charming visuals, music and characters make this the perfect tonic after a long day on the job. Jump into it if you're itching for a Mario-themed RPG.

While the newly-included Minion Quest falls short of the mark, the core content of Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions holds up surprisingly well, even after all these years.

Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions isn't just a remaster of the original classic. It brings the game to the current generations but it also adds a new dimension thanks to the Minion Quest mode, which adding to its rich visuals, memorable and amusing plot and overall quality of the game makes this an adventure more than worth looking into.

A humorous new game mode and a major graphical overhaul offer treats to returning fans of the original game, though subsequent evolutions of the Mario RPG series leave Superstar Saga feeling slightly old-fashioned. With solid gameplay at its core and Bowser's Minions to lighten the mood, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions provides a nostalgic, if not exceedingly memorable, visit to one of the best games of the Game Boy Advance era.

Bowser's Minions were not the reinforcements expected for Mario & Luigi, but such pugnacious tactical digression strengthens the hilarious narrative as well as the whole adventure, while the astonishing amount of content and gameplay improvements make this completely overhauled Superstar Saga even more shining.

Beautiful game design, great mechanics, a variety of gameplay situations, sparkling humor of varying degrees - almost everything is perfect. But being a remake of a game, which was released 14 years ago, this project does not offer anything new to the old fans. Bowser's Minions turned out very funny, but not impressive in terms of gameplay. But for all newcomers and today's fans of the series this game can be safely recommended.
