If you want pirates, play Assassins' Creed IV. If you want epic fantasy, play Dragon Age: Inquisition or The Witcher: Wild Hunt. If you want a combination of the two, know that desire could lead you down a very dark road. Please do not buy Risen 3. It is a very bad game.

As I said previously, Risen 3 is the worst game I've played of 2015 so far. There is just so many problems with this game. There's the technical issues that will never be fixed and the boring and terrible combat system both being the biggest offenders of Risen 3's problems. I just can't recommend this game to anyone unless you really want to play a game with a pirate theme, and if that's the case wait until it's really cheap.

The game's one saving grace could be the wealth of content, like items and stuff you can do. That seems irrelevant in a game that has little depth and very few elements that could keep you playing.

The whole experience isn't awful, just thoroughly uninspiring; a box of biscuits where some are moldy and all are digestive. It's fun to be a pirate, but it's far, far more fun elsewhere, with Risen 3 once again struggling and failing to rise above anything but its own mediocrity.

Instead, all that Risen 3 offers is a decidedly average RPG which leaves behind the bitter taste of missed opportunities and bad rum..

Improved visuals and a few more quests just aren't enough to turn the tide of opinion on this wreck, and with other RPGs since its initial release raising the bar even higher than before, it would have been better if – unlike the game's hero – this title had stayed dead.

Bloated in the mission department, threadbare everywhere else, Risen 3: Titan Lords is cobbled together from rehashed material, and the series' many flaws are enhanced a hundredfold in the process.

Enhanced as it may be, Risen 3: Titan Lords is still a very rough experience with too many problems that outweigh its merits.

Pirates were the most appealing aspect of Risen 3 but unfortunately it gets quickly overshadowed with an average story about magic and demons that fails to hold players interest. There is an enjoyable amount of locations to explore and enemies to discover but actually take any on in a fight and you'll be faced with some very clunky combat mechanics. With so many other RPG's available to players Risen 3: Titan Lords Enhanced Edition or otherwise is probably one that's best avoided.

Lovely visuals cannot save Risen 3 from falling way short in the overall quality stakes.

Risen 3: Titan Lords is a clunky mess of a game that fails to capitalize on the potential it has put forth. While the concept sounds alluring, and it's chock-full of charm, it's weighed down by stodgy design and a lack of polish.

Risen 3: Titan Lords Enhanced Edition is a game that feels like a massive missed opportunity.

Yes, Risen 3: Titan Lords – Enhanced Edition was remastered with care, and it shows, but should the game have even been remastered in the first place? Probably not. Thanks to a story that gets a bit confusing, boring combat, and poor animations, Risen 3 is simply not a good game. The huge worlds, beautiful visuals, and large number of character skills do fight hard to make the RPG worth your money, but in the end, I think it's a game that most likely should be avoided.

Despite some excellent moments, Risen 3 reaches too far and falls short. Glitchy and clunky design will undermine even the most ardent RPG fans hopes of enjoying this game. You're better off waiting for the games you actually want to play.

It's fun to fight in Risen 3: Titan Lords, but other important elements of the experience fall far short of acceptable.

And so that's my final verdict on Risen 3. It's almost a good game. For some of you that will be enough. It's a neat little diversion and it's fun in spurts, and maybe that's all you are looking for. However, there are many other better RPGs to play out there with better stories, and better systems. I would recommend at least trying the game out somehow before diving in to the purchase, but considering this is a Steam game, that's easier said than done.

Risen 3 is a large role-playing game you can pay money for, and it is functional and will occupy your time.

Risen 3 is one of those RPGs that could've been much better, mostly because the action (combat, mainly) gets more attention than the RPG elements, and even then, the action isn't deep or varied. The story is very basic and the characters can only be called characters in the sense that they play a particular shtick. It is not a challenging game, not unless all points are allocated to skills not related to combat. Nonetheless, the environments are beautiful, it's good to get weapons and clothing that can be used to role-play, and the core gameplay is solid. There are some decent quests, too. Just avoid the immense amount of bugs by saving often; otherwise all progress might be lost.

Risen 3: Titan Lords suffers from many of the same faults that affected Risen 2, but offsets them by presenting a lengthy and immersive quest.

Risen 3: Titan Lords is an old-school RPG that will appeal to only the hardcore Risen/Gothic community. For the rest, this last-gen offering is one that will likely fly under the radar. And given that well-executed freedom of exploration and passable combat barely balance out the handful of negative aspects, this is one experience that can wait for a price drop.
