South Park: The Stick of Truth perfectly encompasses what the show is all about. My only wish is that more of my favorite characters could've been given the spotlight, but I guess when you've got 17 seasons worth of content, that's easier said than done.

In a Venn diagram of South Parkfans and adventure RPG fans this game exists in the overlap. If you find yourself there too then this game is an absolute no-brainer. It's inventive, disgusting, in bad taste and absolutely hilarious. If you fall outside that area, however, this isn't going to convert you into either fandom. It's the reliance upon the source material that makes it almost perfect to its target audience, but prevents it from getting a perfect score as a game.

Buy it, love it, play it again with a different buddy, but always remember - never fart on another man's balls. Okay? Good, we're done.

For those of you picking up the console versions in a territory where the censorship stick has been whipped out, have no fear that you're missing out on too much. The five scenes of anal probing, as well as the abortion minigames, are still hilarious in their delivery. Slight spoilers below, but you can check out for yourself the differences between the two versions.

Park: The Stick of Truth is South Park. Even coming back to it after years of not watching the show, there was something for me here. That something was good comedy, which is rare in games or anywhere, and never gets old.

The Stick of Truth may be a little light on challenging gameplay, but the simple yet fun RPG mechanics, coupled with writing that matches the TV series in satiric gold, makes this the best South Park game you'll play for a very, very long time.

The combat is funny, if on the easy side, it's funny as hell, and manages to tastefully recapture the look and feel of the show.

Mechanically, there are some rough edges, like interacting with the environment or the inefficiency of selling a lot of items at once, and the combat could do with a little tweaking. However, when I mentioned earlier that it plays like an extended episode of the show, that should be a massive point in its favour. Possibly the best tie-in game, and yes that includes The Chronicles of Riddick.

South Park: The Stick of Truth is not the greatest game that Obsidian could have created, but it is so faithful to the universe on which it is based that any fan will be delighted to experience the new stories, the new gags, the new take on familiar characters, and the impressive way in which the quiet mountain town is brought to virtual life.

There was a time, there was a time, I had never imagined the possibility of battling a phallic mouse on a computer, but I—we—can never have those days back again. We have to forge on into the filth.

There aren't too many negatives with South Park: The Stick Of Truth but it does have them like the framerate drops and bugs. The game deserves a lot of credit for sticking to a true style of South Park which fans of the show will truly appreciate. The Stick Of Truth also has a surprising amount of customization features, entertaining side missions and enough funny moments to make this a 100% purchase.

While I am admittedly new to the characters and ongoing story of 'South Park', I've seen enough episodes of the television series to prepare myself for the outrageous antics that 'The Stick of Truth' was capable in delivering. For a series that prides itself on gross-out humor, strong language, and inappropriate comedy on a variety of levels, the game delivered a solid RPG experience that was quite enjoyable from start to finish. Although the very mature content forced me to be on the constant lookout for inquisitive eyes (my 8 and 9-year old daughters) while playing the game, the solid game mechanics, hysterical performances, and environmental . . . um . . . variety (if you've played it you'll understand), kept me engaged and interested throughout. Newcomers and loyal fans alike will find plenty of reasons to search for 'The Stick of Truth'.

South Park: The Stick of Truth may as well be an achievement. The soul of the show is captured perfectly with its visuals, consistently funny writing and ridiculous scenarios. It also happens to be damn fun to play. After the 13 hours it took me to complete it, all I've been able to think about since is going back to it to find every lost collectible and missed achievement. If you've ever enjoyed South Park, then you absolutely need to own this game.
