Timothy Vs The Aliens is a smart, sort of original looking game, released on PS4 a few years ago to a few good reviews and a few more poor ones. It’s set in a 1940s style noir city, where everything is black and white (apart from the aliens) and your every move is accompanied by a rather unexciting smooth jazz soundtrack. You are Timothy, a gangster about town who has to repel an alien attack. It’s simple in principle and doesn’t get much more complex in practice. It’s been widely praised for its look, and to be fair that certainly stands out.

Initially, Timothy vs the Aliens appeals with its funky aesthetic and take on the noir/vibrancy crossover trope. Yet that soon wears thin and you’re stuck with an at-times frustrating and extremely bland platform/shooter after a while. However, if old school frustration and cheap games are your bag, this will entertain for a few hours.

Excelent noir style and interesting plot. Timothy vs the aliens is a well-done port to Nintendo Switch, easy to control and very funny.

Timothy vs the Aliens from Wild Sphere is a fun action platformer on PlayStation 4. It is not without its flaws, such as when there is some slow down during crowded fights or when the prompt for the Circle button remains in the screen even after you activate, but is a good indie release you will enjoy. It will take you around 3-5 hours to complete the game and get your Platinum trophy, depending on how long you take to find all collectibles.

Timothy vs the Aliens is a game that seems to be targeting two different audiences. The jazz and the gangsters are undeniably cool to this "older" gamer, but the simple and short gameplay seems to be designed for a younger game player. As it turns out, there might not be enough here for either party. Sadly, a unique and shiny veneer can't hide this simple and repetitive platformer.

Timothy vs. the Aliens is surprisingly pleasant and relaxing platformer with some shooting to aliens included. It's a shame it lasts for about two or three hours.

Timothy Vs the Aliens is a solid release from the Spanish indie team at Wild Sphere, and an ambitious one. The game is an open world release that, unfortunately, doesn't feel as populated as it could have been, but it probably comes down to the development budget and time the indie studio had for making the game. As long as you give this one a chance you'll get to experience a short but fun story with great gameplay mechanics and a Platinum trophy, which is rare with indie releases. This is a good effort from Wild Sphere and I look forward to seeing what the team does to expand on the formula.

Timothy vs the Aliens is a sub-mediocre platformer shooter whose own tragedy is that, for anyone except for the youngsters, nothing of any real substance lurks under its frequently formidable and beguiling veneer.

Timothy vs. the Aliens is a neat little indie title which delivers an entertaining dialogue along with solid platforming and combat mechanics. The contrast of the Black & White setting with the bright, colourful aliens really makes this game a lot of fun to play and as an added bonus, because there isn't any blood, I would say the game is playable by people of all ages. The story is short at around three hours, but the collectables will keep you busy as you search every nook and cranny of the well designed City of Little Fish.
