I tend to be pretty good at fighting games, but it's rare that any of the ones I play truly click with me. Back in 2015, Under Night on PS3 totally clicked with me. The balance between simple character movesets and how system mechanics elevate those moves into an endless suite of juicy combos is something I found myself attracted to like a magnet to an iron bar. Beyond that, though, Under Night sports a dynamic cast of characters and some of the prettiest 2D visuals I've seen in a fighting game. Exe:Late[st] takes the delicious Under Night cake and adds an entire extra layer of your favorite flavor, plus the garnishes and decorative frosting to make it stand out again, 3 years later.

This enhanced version brings enough additions to the table to justify a purchase even if you had bought the original. Longtime fighting game fans will have a lot to look forward to, with its excellent combat and numerous modes, while newcomers will be greeted with a far more accessible experience thanks to its rich training modes and meatier story. It's definitely not for everyone with its subpar visuals for this day and age, but scratch the surface just a bit and you will find a fighting game unlike any other.

Aksys Games have done an awesome job with this game. It is both interesting for the casual and advanced players, and has more than enough content to keep you busy for a while. The only downfall for this game is that it was released in the same time as some major AAA fighting games that might make you not see it, but if you like 2D fighters, this one is a must-play on PlayStation.

Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[st] is a sublime fighting game, with a lot of content to enjoy, a varied gameplay and a generous roster. The graphics show their age, but the art direction is still pretty unique. Despite the fact that several fighting games were released in the past few weeks, this one should be on top of your list.

Under Night In-Birth EXE: Late{st} is a fighting game that deserves to be played but will inevitably be overshadowed by its competition. It's a shame because its $50 price tag is worth it for the tutorial alone.

UNIEST is an excellent fighting game due to its universal mechanics and varied characters which allow the player to fully manifest their fighting style. Unfortunatelly, its low popularity limits the number of online players and the game's lifespan. In case you are a fighting genre veteran, UNIEST might become an unexpected favorite. Beginners should also be interested because of the game's excellent tutorial mode, which will be useful for any fighting game.

Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[st] set out to make an already riveting anime fighter all the more interesting. It's good to know that French Bread accomplished that goal. The character balancing makes everything even more fair than before, the four new characters are all fun additions to the huge roster, and there's a wealthy amount of modes to busy yourself with.

Under Night in-birth exe: late(st) has been a fun discovery for me, in a genre that is full of big impressive franchise names. If the fans of the franchise are rare or rather niche, the game is still a fun addition to the fighting game repertoire, even if it lacks its personality and is overall crude visually for this generation.

Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[st] is a great middle ground between the Street Fighters and the anime fighters that exist today with a deep and yet accessible gameplay and great tutorial.

Quick on the attack and heavy on style, Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[st] is a fighting game that requires an equal mix of brawn and brain to survive its unique take on all-or-nothing fisticuffs.

There's so much love and creativity gone into the roster, and that, more than anything else, will make or break a fighting game.

Under Night In-Birth EXE:Late[st] is a great to watch, fun to play fighting game that really shines when it comes to teach the player how to master its complex combat system, thanks to an amazing tutorial. Despite that, the game suffers the fact of being a niche product in a niche genre such as the Japanese fighting games, a problem that will make difficult to find any other users to play with.

In a crowded period for fighting games, French-Bread has come out with a very strong contender that should not be overlooked. Although Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[st] is a port instead of an entirely brand new title, there is enough added here - and the game is that good - that it deserves all the attention it gets. Dedicated fans will appreciate the comprehensive chronicle mode that addresses the previous version's shortcomings, whilst the level of depth gone into enabling both casual and long-time fighting players to get invested thanks to the excellent tutorial and mission modes contributes to the overall satisfyingly packed range of content. A balanced cast and intricate combat system top off this stylish anime fighter.

Under Night In-Birth is a 2D fighting game coming to us from French Bread and Aksys Games. With a heavy Type-Moon vibe to it, a nice selection of characters, and a solid combat system in place, if nothing else it's certainly a solid entry into the fighting game genre. There are plenty of different modes to try out and the combat is fluid making it easily accessible to newcomers or those that aren't particularly good at fighting games.
