Kirby Star Allies will no doubt be one of the most pleasing and enjoyable games you’ll play this year.
Kirby Star Allies is cute, comfortable to play, and easy to get someone else involved in, but it's also totally forgettable. I thought perhaps it was just that I hadn't played a Kirby game for years or maybe it was better suited to younger audiences, so I got my son to join in for a second opinion. However, to be completely frank, it was only ever as fun as we made it, and this was especially disappointing for him as he's always placed Kirby on a pedestal. There are certainly some components of the game I can appreciate, but, overall, the experience feels hollow.
If you have kids, Star Allies is as obvious a recommendation as they come- they will love to play it, either solo, or with you, and it will lead to some great times and memories for everybody. On the other hand, seasoned gamers and long time Kirby fans won't find much that is substantial here.
Kirby Star Allies won't bring any new fans to the series. It sticks to the tried-and-true gameplay strictures of the franchise for better and worse. Co-op is nice, and the HD visuals do bring Kirby's world to life in a fresh way, but overall this is a totally by-the-book sequel that adds little of value other than a chance to play another Kirby game.
Overall, Kirby Star Allies is a pretty neat game which add some fantastic new features to the Kirby series; it definitely is a laugh to play through the game with a few friends.
It would take a monumental effort to make a Kirby game “un-fun.” Kirby Star Allies isn't ruined because of the allies mechanic, it still functions as an enjoyable Kirby game.
Kirby will not be one of the most challenging games that you will play this year. However, it is fun and definitely can pass the time with a friend or two. If you’re a fan of Kirby, this game will give you more of the same Kirby that we know and love, don’t expect it to hold your attention for long though.
Kirby Star Allies is the same fun and charming platformer that fans have loved so far. The only thing that takes down the latest adventure of Kirby is that it might be dull if you play it alone in single player so its true potential is hidden in the multiplayer.
Kirby Star Allies is a fun entry in the traditional Kirby series. The co-op is fun, the CPU controlled helpers are competent, and the new abilities are a blast to use. Sadly, the length of the game and the lack of difficulty-scaling for bosses in multiplayer make it just shy of living up to its fullest potential.

While it has a lot of star power with all of its characters and abilities which are sure to please the hardcore Kirby fanbase, this new Switch adventure certainly won’t be winning any awards for innovation.
Kirby Star Allies aims for the stars, but falls short. It's a good game that lacks creativity and is incredibly brief. Despite these factors, however, it's still a good game and a good buy for fans of the pink puffball.
It's cute, easy to play and nice to look at, but by the end of it, you'll probably be left craving something that pushes back at least the teensiest bit.
