Some games are terrible. Bravo Team is one of them, unfortunately. That's not my favourite way to start a review, but there's no getting away from the fact that SuperMassive's latest VR effort is just bad.

It's poorly made and is, hands down, the worst game I've ever played. The fact that the end credits didn't include a personal apology because you simply made it to 'em is astonishing.

Bravo Team was supposed to be the next big thing for PSVR. A tactical shooter that you'd spend hours of time playing with your mates. Instead I'll probably spend more time telling people about how bad it is than I'll ever spend playing the damn thing. It's that bad.

Bravo Team has a barebones story, glitchy gameplay, boring combat, brain-dead AI, terrible stealth, and more issues than I could possibly list in a single review summary box. This team needs to be retired.

A shockingly poor attempt to make a VR military shooter, that barely seems to work in any aspect and unwittingly exposes just how limited VR gaming can be.

Needless to say, knowing what Supermassive Games are capable of, I feel that this game should never have been released until they brought it to the same standard as their other titles.

A black sheep among PlayStation VR games. Not only it's a crap, but also it makes the Aim Controller look bad.

Bravo Team's third-person camera movement system snatches control away from the player far too much, creating a jarring and unfriendly experience. I'm still baffled at why this was thought to be a good idea after numerous play tests. Movement is just the peak of myriad problems in Bravo Team, including tracking issues, AI goofs, and just plain bad and boring game design. Endless waves of bullet-sponge enemies in one boring location become more endless waves of enemies in another boring location, and dealing with Bravo Team's other issues means it's not even a boring waste-of-time type of shooter. It's altogether a bad game with few redeemable aspects that doesn't represent the best of VR or Supermassive and should be avoided at all costs.

It's such a shame that Bravo Team is bad because Supermassive has made some great games, but this is by far the worst.

Ultimately, Bravo Team adds nothing to the VR shooter scene and it's somewhat baffling to see Sony pushing the game so hard considering how it has turned out. If you were considering paying top dollar for that tempting Aim Controller bundle then don't.

While just about every PSVR owner has been clamouring for the platform to get its own worthy successor to Time Crisis that makes stellar use of the marvellous Aim controller, this embarrassingly clunky, depressingly soulless shooter sure isn't it.

A poor PSVR shooter, given the pedigree behind its development Bravo Team should have been much better.

"Expanse" might be a bit generous, though. While it's hardly unusual for a VR game to be a bit on the short side, a couple of hours and change for the campaign from start to finish (not including a few frustrating sniper-deaths) pushes the limit. On the other hand, I'm happy that it was over quickly, the better to move on to games that I enjoyed. A score attack mode also exists for those who really want to squeeze every bit of blood from a stone.

Bravo Team is fairly enjoyable at the start but it quickly devolves into a repetitive and mindless shooter that unfortunately doesn't even live up to the classic light gun games of the mid-'90s.

Bravo Team is boring and unimpressive. If it was included with a VR Worlds sequel, it might have been a different story. Unfortunately it's a standalone package that looks and feels like an excuse to sell aim controllers.

Neither a disaster nor a good game. Just a really boring wannabe tactical shooter trying to impress you in VR.

As a demo, it actually works; when I played it for ten minutes in a controlled environment last year, I came away quite impressed with it. But those first ten minutes are Bravo Team's limit, and Sony should have realised this and pulled the plug on the project as a commercial game a long time ago.

Bravo Team nearly does the job as a VR shooter, with good controls (Aim Controller compatible) and online coop gameplay, but for all the rest it is really boring. This game is a poor clich' of shooting games, with no soul and no ideas. Very far from what Farpoint did last year.

Bravo Team embodies some of the worst traits in a VR game. It's lackluster gameplay and stale shooting never take full advantage of VR as a medium, and stumble across all the worst hardware pitfalls PSVR has to wrangle with. It's a mercifully short experience that doesn't justify the price, especially when better games that fundamentally understand VR hardware exist already.

The sum total of this VR experience is being a virtual jack in the box.
