Burnout Paradise Remastered is a masterpiece, just as the original was ten years ago. While I think this could have released with a slightly lower price point, what’s here is cheaper than the base game and all of the DLC on Xbox 360. While Burnout Paradise is the first open-world Burnout game, it also the only. I hope this isn’t the last we’ve seen of the series, and I hope that this release garners attention of EA to make another. Burnout Paradise Remastered is stunning in 4K and at 60fps, the breadth of content available from the get-go will keep you busy for hours upon hours. Oh won’t you please take me home.
Burnout Paradise Remastered still has lessons to teach the young lions of today and remains so much fun!
Burnout Paradise Remastered brings all the glory of the original game, most of the downloadable contents, and adds additional graphical effects and upscaled resolution (for consoles, that is). Paradise City gives you the adrenaline you deserve, letting you crash cars and race whenever you want to. It’s speedy and thrilling and will make you wonder how it came out for the previous generation of consoles when it’s obviously a game made from the future (which is today).
Burnout Paradise really is one of the greatest driving games ever made and apart from the few issues here and there, it is hard to know how the gameplay could be better. Sure there could have been more effort put into the remaster to really make it shine on PS4 Pro and have it feel like something completely new, but under the hood, it's still the classic racer it was when it was released back in 2008 and that's good enough for me.
Burnout Paradise Remastered brings me back to the happy times of teenage gaming. Being able to play one of the greatest racing titles again, on the PlayStation 4, is a delight. I realize being a major fan of the original release skewers my perception slightly, but I am aware my nostalgia plays a role in my enjoyment. As I mentioned, the only positive things here in terms of a remaster are slightly improved textures and playing a beloved racing game again that holds up amazingly well. There’s no new content of any kind so this experience falls into the slight upgrade category. Here’s hoping Alex Ward and Fiona Sperry over at Three Fields Entertainment can come up with something brand new in the true Burnout spirit.
Burnout Paradise Remastered is still a great arcade racer in 2018 despite some minor issues in the gameplay that are not really up to date.

Burnout Paradise Remastered brings the audacity and extremeness of previous titles but somehow loses its purpose by reaching too far. An absolute thrill ride when you can think up fun new things to try.
Burnout Paradise Remastered is a crazy and exhilarating vehicular playground. It may not be the most alive or even the largest city in gaming, but there’s an intimate and comfortable magic on display that keeps you addictively on the lookout for tell-tale yellow gates.
The game’s strong core mechanics and visual upgrades weren’t quite enough to distract me from reminders that this entry may have been where Burnout veered off course.
There is a reason that it was one of the top games of it's genre back in 2008 and this translates beautifully to the new console platforms.
Burnout Paradise offers all the excitement and crashes you remember from the original release. Now the game is upped to 60 FPS support and 4K, which adds to the experience. It wasn’t a whole complete overhaul of the 2008 release, but the opportunity to return to Paradise City and it’s accompanying Big Surf Island is one that many won’t (and shouldn’t) pass up, especially if you plan on bringing a few friends along for the drive.
This brings me to my final conclusion; why buy Burnout Paradise Remastered? It’s a great game, true, and it looks shinier now, of course. But really, given that the original is only ten years old and available on both PC and last gen consoles, not a lot has changed to justify the stunningly high asking price that EA have attached to this version.
If you have nothing else to play or have fond memories of the original series then this game will fill a hole in your library.
Burnout Paradise might be a bit too expensive on the eShop, but you’re getting a lot of bang for your buck. A huge open world to explore, tons of cars to unlock and collect, a fantastic soundtrack comprised of some of the greatest bands of all time, and most importantly, that good old Burnout gameplay that will never get old.
GREAT - Racing around the city at blinding speeds is just as fun today as it was 12 years ago. Burnout Paradise City is a shining example of how to do a Switch port right. The $50 price tag is a bit hard to swallow, but the insane fun found here is undeniable.
Boasting a sleek design and overall presentation is an achievement Criterion should be proud of. For fans of the franchise, or its parent category, and those who own the Hybrid handheld should definitely consider adding this essential to their library. Burnout Paradise on Nintendo Switch is a must have.
Burnout Paradise Remastered for the Switch is a solid game. However, being an expensive port of a much cheaper game on other platforms, it’s the best selling point is the fact that you can play this game on the go with no frame rate issues. Which is to say that it also handles pretty well on docked mode. It may not be full HD, but when it runs smoothly as it does, I don’t mind it running at just 720p 60fps.
Burnout Paradise Remastered on Switch is an incredibly well-optimized release that is clearly tailored for the hardware. It’s more than just successful, it’s outstanding, and regardless of the original game’s age, it sets the bar for the quality that we should expect from multi-platform ports making their way onto the Switch. It certainly has some rough edges in order to fit this package onto the Switch and to ensure it runs well, but still it’s wonderful to see that so much hard work has been put in to preserve the authentic Burnout Paradise experience, and being able to take this game with you literally anywhere for the first time ever is a bit of a thrill all on its own. I can’t say enough good things about this game; the original is already one of my all-time favorites, and now the remastered edition is the complete, modern day package that will allow the game to live on for another generation of players and old fans alike. Burnout Paradise Remastered is an excellent game, and the Switch release is a true gem that is indeed a little bit of paradise.
