Assassin's Creed Origins: The Curse of the Pharaohs Reviews
The Curse of the Pharaohs is a big step outside of what we're used to seeing from Assassin's Creed Origins, and it pulls its whimsically mystical journey off well. Combat continues to be fun and challenging, and this time your biggest foes are fleshed out and varied enough to turn what could've easily been a monotonous series of fights into a highlight. Along with the side activities of hunting down stolen relics and exploring desecrated tombs, this surreal DLC goes above and beyond expectations.
Bayek heads to Thebes to retrive another lost artifact, only to find himself taking a trip into the afterlife. The base map for this expansion seems about as big as the Hidden Ones expansion, but the additional afterlife regions add scale and scope to this DLC. The regions also untether Ubisoft's artists from reality, allowing them to come up with some grand vistas as a result. Curse of the Pharaohs is what Origins needed and stands as one of the better expansions for an Assassin's Creed game.
This is Assassin's Creed finally catching the dragon that it has been chasing for a decade. At long last, it has nailed the balance between outlandish and plausible. Because of the period's close ties to mythology, it makes sense for Bayek to travel to the ethereal. It's thematically consistent with the setting, and it's a sincere reason to explore something new. The Curse of the Pharaohs is among the most ambitious of Assassin's Creed add-ons while also among the least jarring. It's quite possibly the best DLC to date. If this is Bayek's swan song, he went out on a high note.
An example of a well delivered DLC, which offers an interesting and different approach to the main game. You will enjoy Egypt once again, despite doing the same routines.

Curse of the Pharaohs is an expansion with full game flavor. An unbeatable level of quality/price ratio that we did not see since Blood & Wine for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt or Hot Wheels for Forza Horizon 3.

Assassin's Creed Origins: Curse of the Pharaohs is a great expansion that does a fantastic job of bringing ancient Egypt's spiritual side to life. Channelling the creativity of a clearly talented team, the DLC breaks the series' historical shackles and provides a memorable adventure packed with cool boss encounters. Curse of the Pharaohs is right up there with the best that Ubisoft's franchise has to offer.
With the Curse of the Pharaohs, Ubisoft finally delivers a strong DLC which plays the fantastic card to push the series forward. Yes, the adventure stills uses the same tricks and twists used a thousand times before, but the beautiful Thebes and After-Life visuals will make the 20-hour long series of events fly in the blink of an eye.

At the end of Curse of the Pharaohs, I was very happy to have spent another weekend in Bayek's world. Ubisoft have offered exactly what you loved about Origins plus some fun twists from the afterlife on the side.
"The Curse of the Pharaohs" amazed me with a great design of Afterlife sandbox locations and a new turn to Egyptian mythology. This is how you expand your game!

If you love Origins, you'll get a big kick out of "Curse of the Pharaohs". Simple, really.
The Curse of the Pharaohs offers a fantastic journey, while you finally have a chance to visit one of the most famous ancient Egypt city Thebes, and four pharaohs' tombs with their beautiful after-life worlds. We still can find some defects which came from the original game, but as a DLC, this 10+ hours' journey is satisfying enough.

Don't let my lengthy rant about the overarching lore fool you - Curse of the Pharaohs is a fantastic, content-rich DLC which takes what already worked well, added a few twists and turns, and gave us more of it. This is a solid ~15-20 hours of content if you're a completionist and explorer with some unique and otherwise underrepresented settings.
The Curse of the Pharaohs' unique spin on Origins' setting and formula makes for a memorable experience.
Bayek returns to have Ubisoft deliver his highest artistic performance ever in the Assassins' brand, with astonishing settings and brand new enemies and characters.

It's hard to deliver quality DLC, and as the previous instalment saw, the result is often more of the same that fails to live up to the original or delivery anything new. There are 12 hours or so of content in The Curse of the Pharaohs, and while it isn't all good, the pieces that are good, are very good. So good, in fact, that it takes Assassin's Creed Origins and puts it on par - or even ahead! - of Black Flag for best Assassin's Creed game of all time. Future Assassin's Creed titles take note, sometimes a little bit of the mythical and magical can elevate the game even further …and how about giving eager gamers something in Japan next time?
