It feels more creative and less constrained than the "major" Assassin's Creed titles (as did Liberation and Chronicles), and for that reason it's right up there with my favourite games in the entire franchise.

In this Remastered version of Rogue, although not much of the activities have changed and yes, in some parts, it looks exactly as how it did — but the game now runs smoothly to adapt to its wide environment. The visuals are more beautiful and stunning without the large amounts of bugs that had made the game only tolerable in the past.

As a jumping in point, it would be difficult to recommend Assassin's Creed Rogue. However, as a product in and of itself, it is a cohesive experience with hidden levels of depth and progression possibilities, backed by exceptional presentation values and fun fighting and seafaring mechanics. Completionists looking for an irresistible challenge and franchise fans who missed out the first time around will find a lot to love here.

Assassin's Creed Rogue was tones of fun and I personally am glad it got the remaster so that I had the chance to play it on current gen consoles. It was a nice chance to get to see Shay story in the whole series as well as a nice twist to play as a Templar.

Assassin’s Creed: Rogue’s initial release on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 was significantly overshadowed by the simultaneous release of Assassin’s Creed: Unity as naturally, the greater part of players turned to the game released on next gen consoles (at the time). That said, many never embarked upon Shay’s journey, including myself making the remastering of this title a divine opportunity to fill in some blanks for presumably, a vast portion of Assassin’s Creed players.

Technically well-valued open-world action, which shines with playful variety and intricate story.

Assassin's Creed Rogue Remastered is a decent port of the original, with a major upgrade to framerate, textures and resolution on this generation's consoles, but is outshined by the latest entry in the franchise. It's still a good opportunity for those that never played this episode to try it out, but will feel outdated for some after having played Assassin's Creed Origins.

It's exciting to re-board the Morrigan and step into the boots of Shay Cormac. The ground combat may feel the effect of age, but the naval combat remains a highlight of the series. While a lot of people may have chased Unity onto the new generation of hardware, missing Rogue in the process, now they can enjoy the crowning jewel of the Americas Trilogy at 4K, which looks better than ever.

Though it fails to satisfyingly remaster the game's visuals, Assassin's Creed Rogue Remastered nevertheless brings the original game to the Xbox One with perfect performance and every feature that made it great in the first place.

Assassin's Creed Rogue Remastered is a modest remaster but a good one. While some other options would've been appreciated to prioritise frame rate over resolution, the game itself still stands up four years on. It's missing some of the bells and whistles that games like Origins have since introduced, but its unique premise and concept means it's an experience most Assassin's Creed fans shouldn't miss.

Assassin's Creed Rogue Remastered is a much needed comeback of an outstanding Assassin's Creed entry. An original idea for a story, well-known mechanics from Black Flag and tons of activities to complete – it's truly a full package.

It’s my favourite Assassin’s Creed of the last-generation and it’s now very close to the best one of this generation too.

One of the most interesting stories in the franchise, which stands afloat, technically speaking, in the current generation. It suffers in comparison with how much AC Origins improved the mechanics.

A remastering that brings us everything that the game had originally but with a much superior artistic quality, especially on Xbox One X.

Assassin's Creed Rogue Remastered is a fun game which would entertain you good if you haven't played it before. Story is well-written and there are lots of new information about the war between Assassins and Templars but some missions are quite repetitive.

Assassin's Creed Rogue Remastered is a stellar remastering of one of the series most overlooked entries. Though it pales next to Origins, Assassin's Creed Rogue Remastered generous, content stuffed and budget priced effort still bears revisiting all the same.

There are many advantages for anyone to try Assassin's Creed Rogue's good looks, exciting story or a desire to return to classic series games. Although the game is not more beautiful than Black Flag or larger than Origins, it offers a range of tasks that are best in string and naval battles and countless personalization options, making it a major choice for anyone who has never had a chance to try it before.

Focusing only on graphics, Assassin's Creed Rogue Remastered is an acceptable remaster of a game featuring mechanics that already felt dated four years ago. After the release of the excellent Assassin's Creed Origins and other modern open world games, Assassin's Creed Rogue Remastered's combat, stealth and overall design feel even worse than they did before, and Ubisoft missed the chance to address some of them with the remaster. Despite these issues, however, the game is one of the few entries in the series that manages to capture a feel of adventure, making it a worthy play for those who love stories where the main character raises from nothing to become the most important man in the world.
