In the end, it doesn’t matter what moves you unlock throughout these games or how many new characters you encounter because few truly innovative twists are offered to the series’s gameplay loop.

If you want a true blast from the past, Spyro Reignited has plenty to offer. The design, simplicity and cheeky grin on Spyro's face really makes the game a delight to play. Levels have been remade to such accuracy that if you have an old Spyro guide laying around it you could use it for reference. With all the nostalgia aside the game performs well but unfortunately is not without its flaws, becoming a little stale at times and with controls that needed a bit more work.

I am happy to see Spyro back on game consoles but do look forward to any patches or updates that address my major concerns in regards to accessibility and the controls.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy is the best way to experience the original Spyro the Dragon trilogy, two decades after the first entry was released. The games on offer were never major classics, of course, and their heavy collect-athon nature won't appeal to everyone. The new, upgraded version is simply beautiful, making the originals look even older than they truly are, so Spyro fans will simply love this… as long as they have the patience to endure 30-second-long loading times (or more).

A consistent triple whammy of 3D collectathon platforming remade with extreme care and faithfulness to the original material. Spyro Reignited Trilogy plays well, looks fantastic, and is rarely an overwhelming or difficult set of adventures, with small worlds that are simple to conquer and ideal for a younger audience. By the time of the third game, things are a little more gimmicky, and there is a repetitive nature about the constant running around and collecting, but these colourful platformers still manage to deliver real delight if you try not to blast through each game one after the other.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy is a game best enjoyed in bite-sized sessions, otherwise it soon begins to feel like a chore.

Although Spyro the Dragon and its subsequent two sequels haven’t aged as well as one would hope, Toys for Bob has done a good effort to put out a remaster that does the nostalgia justice.

It's a faithful and fun remaster, although it doesn't push the boat out in any way.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy is a good compilation with 3 excellent platform games from the first PlayStation. Redone from scratch, the game offers a nice new design but some technical flaws, and the gameplay feels a bit old, but it's still a good nostalgic trip for the whole family this Christmas.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy is a beautiful remake of popular PS1' games, which could be much better if the developers updated the gameplay and solved a few old problems. However, fans of the series and the genre are definitely worth a try.

Remakes so good they flatter the original games, but whether or not they deserve this level of star treatment the end result is three enjoyable and accessible 3D platformers for all ages.

Spyro: Reignited Trilogy lives on contrasts. We can be Spyro whenever we want with the portability and a lot of content to experience with a great control system. But also we cannot deny that the portability was payed with lot of technical compromises, that weren't even enough to give the game a costant fluidity. Perhaps it's only to those who have only Switch as a current-gen console.

The original three Spyro games have been completely remade and you can feel it when it comes to the controls and camera. Luckily it goes unnoticed more often than not as you’ll be smitten with a fairy-tale story and beautiful music.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy relies on the nostalgic accuracy of its colors and commands and turns out to be a fun and enjoyable game. It does not provide great challenges, but it entertains and satisfies all ages, from the oldest player who accompanied the original games to the novices in this world of jewelry, dragons, colors and lots of fire.

Another amazing platformer is now on the Nintendo Switch. Spyro the Reignited Trilogy is a wonderful remake of the original games that will leave you wanting more. It is a lot easier than the originals, but that should not stop old fans and new fans from playing the game. Its a good game for the Switch, but I would recommend just getting it on PS4 or Xbox if you want the traditional Spyro experience.

A perfect visual and audio upgrade to a bonafide classic that sadly can do little to bring its dated game play and simplistic design to a modern audience. Fans and kids alike however will no doubt find many hours of enjoyment in this expertly presented package.

The Reignited Trilogy is Sypro in his best purple suit, with a stunning recreation of his three adventures making you forget how rough and aged they've become over two decades. Its gameplay is retrospectively simplistic but still engaging, with only persisting camera issues and troublesome audio implementations getting in the way of a special return journey.
