Dragon's Crown Pro offers upgraded visuals and some nice audio options as a remaster, however for returning fans there isn't any special reason to go back for this. For others, however, this is the definitive version of a very enjoyable and stylish side-scrolling fantasy brawler.

Atlus's remake of the PS3 classic, Dragon's Crown Pro brings the game to the modern day with several enhancements. The updated visuals provide a much-needed bump in the image quality. While the remastered music keeps the same elements of the original but adds it's own flair. While this is only Atlus's second remastered title on the PS4, it shows how much love and dedication they've put into it. A favorite from the PS3 days, now veterans and newcomers will be able to enjoy it once again; while still being able to play with existing PS3 and PS Vita gamers.

Grab a friend with you! Join a pub game! Quit whenever you like! Others will come, sooner or later! It’s a hell of a fun game that I would enjoy time and time again now that I have both the handheld and console version of the game. A fun and engaging core story although a bit shorter than I wanted but considering the fact that you have six characters and each with their own separate endings you’ll be wishing the game could end faster!

Dragon’s Crown Pro is a prime example of what a couch co-oped remake should be like. The amazingly designed system is just as good now as it back back in 2013 and because of the newer hardware it runs even smoother. If you already have it? It’s really up to you but fans of the title will want to see this masterpiece in its new glory. For everyone else, Dragon’s Crown Pro is exactly what a Brawler should aspire to be with plenty of customizations and amazing artwork to go with it.

The most beautiful "beat´em up" of the past generation is back. Dragon´s Crown find a perfect balance between classic brawlers such as Golden Axe or The King of Dragons, and RPG elements, and adds an unmissable 4 player coop (local or online). This remastered version also includes 4K resolution (witch PS4 Pro) and a new orchestral soundtrack.

Dragon's Crown Pro should be considered as a remaster. However, it features 4K graphics for PS4 Pro owners and a new soundtrack. Otherwise, it's the same title we saw in 2013 for PS3 and PS Vita. Like any remaster, it's worth if you have not played it until now. In this case it's even worthier because it will hardly age badly with this unique and beautiful artistic style.

Ultimately, Dragon's Crown Pro is reserved only for newcomers and the most hardcore of fans. As beautiful as the storybook world looks in 4K, it simply isn't enough to justify a second purchase for those who've already played through it on the PS3 and Vita. Dragon's Crown Pro is still a great game and it holds up well even on the current generation consoles thanks in part to the 4K upgrade, but the lack of new gameplay features makes it feel like a rather lackluster re-release. Dragon's Crown Pro is the definitive version of the game, especially if you have a PlayStation 4 Pro and a 4K supported display. The developers have done an outstanding job, boosting the visuals fidelity from the original release, and including the orchestrated version of the soundtrack. I have already spent dozens of hours on the initial release and considering I was able to use my save file from the PS Vita; I see myself once again spending a crazy amount of hours chasing high-end loot. It is a shame that no new skins for the classes have been released or included and the high price tag may scare some players from double dipping.

It's tempting to call Dragon's Crown Pro a lazy rerelease, because beyond a slight visual bump and new orchestration of the soundtrack, this is basically the same game from 2013. The pricing will seem somewhat steep if you've already poured countless hours into the original Dragon's Crown, but that doesn't take anything away from what is still one of the best, most memorable beat-'em-ups on the market. Prepare to be hooked all over again in this Vanillaware classic that might not have the story to match the developer's other top game, Odin Sphere, but finds a way to combine genres and ensure multiplayer becomes something players will actively want to make use of to get the most satisfaction out of Dragon's Crown Pro. Highly recommended to anyone with a passing interest in beat 'em ups, but there is no denying that there is mild disappointment at the absence of new gameplay content, rendering it a hard sell to those that have beaten the game before. Don't like beat' em ups, though? Better off to pass, as the tedium does have a tendency to rear its ugly head before long, and that isn't something even Dragon's Crown can evolve the genre from.

Despite the framerate issues, this is a good game that I enjoyed playing. Some of the 2D animations are a little weird but it just adds to the feel of the game. If you’re someone who played this game before and has a burning desire to play it again I’d say go ahead, it will satisfy your desire. Likewise if you’re a fan of VanillaWare games. If you haven’t played it before, however, I would say maybe have a look at the game on the PS3 or Vita; it will probably be a little cheaper.

Dragon's Crown Pro makes strides in updating the side-scrolling beat-'em-up genre by incorporating light RPG mechanics well. The overall setting and simplicity of getting into the game are intriguing, but the art style is jarring, and the story paper-thin. While I understand the latter is not the reason to play this type of game, it's frustrating to see and feel how flimsy it comes off. The gameplay is solid, and the innovations are intriguing, but the rest of Dragon's Crown Pro is rather shallow.
