Trying to sum up everything about Valkyria Chronicles 4 is a tumultuous ordeal. Just know it’s an excellent strategy-RPG that is consistently engaging, challenging, and full of depth, vital for the game’s 30+ hour campaign and full $60 price point. Its full of genre-blending combat, likable characters, and potent storytelling that click well together. You don’t need any prior familiarity with the series to enjoy what’s going on. Despite a large learning curve, if you’re a strategy game greenhorn or no, Valkyria Chronicles 4 might just win the battle for your heart.

Yes, yes and once again yes! Exactly such games the world needs. Valkyria Chronicles 4 has gone back to its origins, skilfully implemented and left the battle victorious with waving flags. The story of the title is incredibly exciting and you always want to know more. The fact that you have to select the individual story sections with pictures interrupts the flow of the story a bit. I was bothered by the fact that if you are in the middle of the story, the story is finished and the next picture has to be clicked. But here it should be noted that this is criticism on the highest level. Gameplay and the combat system are intuitive. You are always responsible for what happens on the battlefield. It's up to you where the unit is sent to and whether it survives. Only the evaluation after a battle I found awkwardly designed. There is simply too much emphasis on the speed of the conclusion. Because of the diversity of Valkyria Chronicles 4 I never got bored. Once I didn't feel like the story, which rarely happened, I continued the troop stories. If I wanted to learn more about my game world, I went to the accommodations and devoted myself to studies. Were there any problems with the level or the money? No problem, off to a skirmish. It was just fun to play such a wonderful game with unique characters. Anyone who is familiar with JRPG's tactics or just wants to start with such a genre will have fun here. Valkyria Chronicles 4 impresses with a breathtaking story, lovable and unique characters, enormous tactical behaviour and variety. For those looking to continue the story of Valkyria Chronicles with greater challenges, definitely pick up Valkyria Chronicles 4. It has the gorgeous watercolor graphics you love, along with improved gameplay mechanics. That said, the story is quite heavy, and you may find yourself a little confused if you’re new to the series. Still, Europa’s future depends on you. Squad E, move out!

Valkyria Chronicles 4 went back to the roots of the original. The gameplay has stayed nearly the same after nine years, with the exception of the new Grenadier class, but it still stands as firm as a rock. If you enjoyed the original, you will enjoy VC4.

Valkyria Chronicles 4 is a fantastic return to form and delivers on everything Valkyria Chronicles fans have wanted for years. The game also offers a lot of value, taking around 35-45 hours just to beat the main story then still having plenty more to do afterwards. While the game hasn’t pushed the boundaries of the earlier titles too far it is still a solid strategy RPG with a great cast of well developed characters. If you like strategy RPG’s and games that carry an anime aesthetic I highly recommend you check this out, even if it’s your first Valkyria Chronicles game.

Strategic war games don't get much more engaging than Valkyria Chronicles 4.

Valkyria Chronicles has had a rough go of it since its initial release. Although the remastered version of the original sold well, the second game was divisive and the third was never localized. Don't even get me started on the Revolution side game. But with Valkyria Chronicles 4, the series is back and everyone needs to enlist.

It's quite impressive that SEGA has been able to take something so revered as Valkyria Chronicles, and do it justice with the fourth title in the series.

I have consistently advocated good character development and a likable cast and this is all present in Valkyria Chronicles 4. The strategic combat is more of the same but the new cast offers a refreshing change of pace that can overcome the lack of innovation in the gameplay department.

Valkyria Chronicles 4 rights the ship after Valkyria Revolution almost sank it. Fans of strategy RPGs should definitely try the demo out and see if the game is right for them.

I do love Valkyria Chronicles 4 for many reasons. Its characters are more endearing than any I had encountered in the series thus far and its systems and mechanics are still as engaging as ever. However, there is still plenty going against even its most positive attributes.

Valkyria Chronicles 4 is the true sequel that fans of the original Valkyria Chronicles have wanted. It's safe, by the book, predictable, and it does little to fix the flaws of the original game. However, that's not a bad thing.

Valkyria Chronicles 4 marks a true evolution of the original game's legacy, bringing an excellent gameplay allied with a good story that could be better told. It's a highly recommended game for those that like strategy and I truly hope that Sega keeps making more of this unique series.

Valkyria Chronicles 4 is a cautious sequel. It is almost identical to the original Valkyria Chronicles game from PS3 era, but that's not a bad thing! For a decade we've been waiting for the proper big game in the series, and Valkyria Chronicles 4 delivers on all fronts.

With few major changes from the core formula, fans of the series will feel right at home with Valkyria Chronicles 4. The game changes enough for the better and offers some degree of fresh air to the experience even after four entries. Any flaws that were present in previous titles still exist to some extent, holding it back from true greatness, but the general formula is more than solid enough and stays fresh despite the '4' in the title.

It is more of the same for Valkyria Chronicles 4 - and that's no bad thing. Going back to what SEGA did best with this series following the awful Revolution was really all that was necessary, even if it might feel too familiar if coming off of playing the first game recently. Comic book visuals, a story based on World War II, appealing anime-like characters, a mix of overhead and third-person strategic and real-time gameplay - there are so many crazy ideas melded together, and yet it all comes off so well. There still isn't a series much like it.
