Wreckfest isn’t the greatest racing game ever made, but it’s filled a niche it excels at. Everything about it focuses your attention on the finite moments of utter chaos and straddles the line between arcade fun and simulation. It wants you to be reckless and doesn’t burn you for it.

If you're willing to turn off every assistance and don't mind the lack of racing tracks and poor online component, Wreckfest is a must.

If you love the fun side of driving games (smashing into the other vehicles and watching them bleed oil), then Wreckfest is for you! With its diverse event-types ranging from a standard demolition derby to crazy Sofa-racing, there’s so much more to the game than simply crashing into other cars, it’s all about strategically timing your offensive whilst remaining on the defensive as one hit too many will result in you knocking yourself out of the competition. The main Championships should last you many hours as you try furiously to not only come first in every event but also complete all of the challenge missions as well. Plus, there are countless hours of fun to be had within the Custom Events and Multiplayer – I just wished the game had local split-screen multiplayer.

While Wreckfest is technically a simulation racer, it isn't concerned with accurate engine tweaking or proper racing lines, and it's all the better for it. Glitches aside, the focus on vehicular carnage makes for a fulfilling racing experience.

Anyone who can relate to the thrill of witnessing and narrowly avoiding catastrophically beautiful pile ups between opponents in games like GRID, MotorStorm, Burnout, or even Destruction Derby back in the day is guaranteed to have a blast.

If Forza Horizon 4 is the king of Racers this is right there up with it for me as it is quite simply one of the most fun racers I have played in a very long time.

Wreckfest plays the role of those bad boys of school in racing genre. The difference is that this bad boy has done all his homework and studies very well and despite all its weak points that are mostly the result of shortage in funding, managed to deliver an interesting game that is different than stereotypes of its genre. If you are tired of strict rules of other games in this genre, and every collision or get out from the track costs you a lot then Wreckfest is the game that you need. Not only there is no other rule besides becoming first, the game also encourages you to enjoy this helter-skelter festival and wreck each other in tracks for fun.

Realistic racing with a brilliant learning curve and destruction as far as the eye can see. No other racing game on a console that's dropped this year so far has what's been put together here.

Wreckfest foregoes a complex career mode you might expect in a modern racing game and instead highlights the best damage model I’ve ever seen in video games. Crashing has never looked so good or played so well, and this makes the game feel worthwhile long after you’ve dominated the simple stash of modes and upgrades. It’s a game that looks wonderful even when it’s meant to look ugly, always chaotic and messy but never less than stunning.

Strong emphasis of racing/destruction, with a plethora of cars to tweak and modify to your heart’s content, the only gripes are down to musical preference and patience with loading times.

Wreckfest is just a good deal of fun. At the end of the year here at Chalgyr's Game Room, we have a variety of awards and one we have had in the past is our favorite Guilty Pleasure. Right now, Wreckfest is easily leading the way for that one in my book.

Wreckfest is an excellent racing game. It has one of the best physics and by far the best damage models in any racing game I have ever played. Combine these with a variety of classic and destruction derby-style races and you have yourself one hell of a title. This one is a no-brainer for anyone with Game Pass and it’s on sale quite often as well. Do yourself a favor and check Wreckfest out, there’s a good chance you’ll absolutely love it.

Wreckfest offers a mighty impressive next-gen upgrade, with almost all facets of the PlayStation 5 taken advantage of to make the game better. It looks slicker, it plays smoother, it’s packed to the brim with extra detail, whilst the faster load times make it easier to dive right into the action. It also just so happens to be a whole lot of fun to play… what more could you want from a chaotic and destruction-filled racer?

Wreckfest is a shockingly good time on Nintendo’s handheld, even if it clearly doesn’t hold up when compared to other console ports in terms of visuals and performance. Being able to crash a bunch of cars inside an arena while driving a deranged combined harvester, on-the-go? I’d be a madman if I said I wasn’t having a ton of fun doing that.

Wreckfest delivers a competent, frantic and fun arcade racing experience coupled with vehicle destroying action, and it all works as good as we expect it to. Thanks to a very good adaptation, the Nintendo Switch runs Wreckfest impeccably well, allowing players to enjoy this varied, vehicle smashing experience for many hours, whether on solo or multiplayer.

Wreckfest is a distinctly average racing game, with some notable fun to be had in its demolition-focused game modes. You might get a few laughs out of the novelty vehicles, too.

Oh man, where do I begin to properly convey my total love for this title? First and foremost I’ll start with the game’s performance and controls, which are absolutely spot-on perfect and show no signs of compromises...

Wreckfest can have sustained periods of standard race after standard race, but it delivers its best parts when trying to keep that fresh.
