Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit presents some glimpses of the second part of Life is Strange, and how the story will look. The series preserved the first part of distinctive soundtrack and encouraged exploration, but did not completely eliminate the flaws of the first one. The story is as slow as usual, and the studio has not revealed everything in its wake yet.

Captain Spirit ends on a rather obvious cliffhanger, however there’s more than enough here to have me eagerly anticipating Life is Strange 2. I’m convinced the death of Chris’ mom isn’t quite as clear-cut as it first appears and I’m looking forward to helping Chris uncover the truth. It’s always tricky to score a free game, but I enjoyed the 90 minutes I spent with Captain Spirit and recommend you give it a go.

The demo may only take a few hours to complete everything there is to see, but The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit is a fantastic introduction to Life is Strange 2. Thanks to new mechanics and abilities It changes the way you approach the game and I have a feeling the best is yet to come. Either way, we know now we’ll be hearing more from Chris and Captain Spirit and that can only be a good thing.

Available for free, The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit is a straight up must-play. Whether you’ve played any of the previous Life is Strange games, or are a newcomer to the series, Captain Spirit caters for all audiences regardless of exposure. More importantly, however, is the manner in which Captain Spirit tackles challenging issues while also being able to maintain a spirit of innocence at the same time. In all honesty, it manages to do this with a grace and style that very few other mediums, let alone video games, have been able to achieve with artistic integrity. Thank you sincerely Dontnod, for making me remember both the difficulty and innocence that comes with being a child.

The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit is a quick thread which ties together the plot between Life is Strange and Life is Strange 2. We’re hoping we get to see more of Chris this September, because we definitely feel as if his story has yet to be concluded.

rather enjoyed my time with The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit. It’s essentially what you come to expect from Life is Strange condensed into a two-ish hour experience that isn’t going to cost you anything to play all the way to the end. It’s very obviously a prequel to something much bigger, and it ends a little abruptly which I found a little disappointing, as I was ready to play for another couple hours. What it has achieved is make me excited for LiS 2, more than I ever was before. I still have no real clue what the sequel might be, or how this plays into its story, but for now this was a touching experience I’m really appreciative of.

It's enough to say that Captain Spirit is every bit as moving and charming as you'd expect from a Life is Strange game. What's more, it augurs extremely well for the upcoming sequel which, at the time of writing, is only a couple of months away.

The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit is a moving piece that explores grief, love, abuse and the resilience of children in just over two hours. Given that it is provided completely free of charge, I would implore everyone to give it a chance, even if you didn’t enjoy Life is Strange. For gamer parents out there, it should be considered an essential experience.

Despite Captain Spirit's length, its ability to draw the player in and form an emotional bond with its characters is outstanding and follows the example set by Life is Strange.

While not quite a demo and not quite a full game, Captain Spirit is a great way to test the waters. Whether you’re a die hard Life is Strange fan or completely new to the series, Captain Spirit is worthwhile.

An intriguing taste for what's to come in Life is Strange Season 2. The series' formula shows its age here and there, but what shines, as ever, is sensitive writing, and an excellent setting.

In the short amount of time players have to try out the new mechanics and get reacquainted with the old, Dontnod sets up a new story that could be as emotionally resonant as the first game, but in different ways. Given the age difference between Max and Chris, the same exact situations cannot play out, nor should the story be the same. Superheroes are as popular in the gestalt as ever, from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and The Incredibles 2 to My Hero Academia and One Punch Man. The unique chance to tell a compelling adult story from the point of view of a child—one who may have superpowers at that—is oh so delightful, and if anyone is up to the task of taking what is popular and familiar and subverting expectations to craft something raw and beautiful, Dontnod has that locked down.

The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit is, quite simply, awesome and really scratches that Life is Strange itch leading up the release of Life is Strange 2. Dontnod is really on to something with this series and I hope that they can bottle lightning twice by making LiS2 as good as the first game.

The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit is a good contribution to the world of Life is Strange, which works more than well as a prelude to a full-fledged sequel. Plus, it's completely free. What else could you want?

Fans of the series will play this and find themselves completely relieved of any lingering concerns that they may have had that Max and Chloe are no longer the focus of the series, with Captain Spirit proving the Life is Strange universe - and Dontnod's on mastery over this kind of storytelling - is bigger then just the original protagonists.
