Ultimately, New Gundam Breaker does little to continue the good faith the past few Gundam games have worked so hard to garner. It's a charming game at times, and its characters are refreshingly simple. That's not enough to save it from itself, though, and the gameplay is well below what a game based entirely on building and piloting a Gundam should be. Hardcore fans will likely want to pick this one up simply because it has Gundam in the name, but for anyone else, this one should probably be avoided.

New Gundam Breaker had the elements to be a good game, but the technical and game design flaws drastically ruin all its potential.

New Gundam Breaker is a disaster. A near broken mess of an action game, even Gundam maniacs will struggle to stomach its many, many flaws. Its visual novel elements are so obnoxiously cliche that you'll have to stop your eyes from rolling our of their sockets, and the gameplay is a mix of clunky controls and unfathomable chaos. Add some unbelievably poor technical performance to the mix, and you have a Gundam game that's not even fit to be mobile suit scrap orbiting the Earth.

A musou-like action game, a bit repetetive and easy. Perfect just for the fans of Gundam and gunpla models.

The weird need to reinvent itself onto a competitive format has damaged this newest Gundam game every step of the way.

There are so many issues in New Gundam Breaker that it manages to be the worst thing an anime game can be – a title with the sole positive being the fact it's Gundam. Combat is boring, repetitive, with a targeting system that manages to be frustrating. Even if bland gameplay is not a problem, so many of the mechanics have needless limits or seem pointless. Throw in a generic story that is about as forgettable as they come and it feels less like a game Gundam fans will love, something that has been true for previous entries, and instead a rushed title with whatever they could toss together at the last second.
