The Mooseman Reviews
As a game, The Mooseman falters, but its atmosphere, tone, and storytelling all take huge strides to make up for the lacklustre gameplay. All-in-all, it's certainly not bad, and I don't feel guilty recommending it.
An interesting and widely untold story can't do enough to gloss over The Mooseman's gameplay pitfalls.
If you're the type to burn through the Louvre in an hour and wait for your companions in the cafe, The Mooseman may well try your patience. If you're more inclined to wander around with an audio guide, reading every accompanying plaque and information card, you'll likely enjoy its sedate pace, workaday puzzles and catalogue of artefacts. A clumsy UI seriously hampers the experience but, if you're willing to work around the irritations at its core, it offers an interesting, sometimes beautiful journey.
A parallax scrolling edutainment title, heavy on interesting lore but light on engaging gameplay.
The Mooseman is very brief (but cheap) game that somehow seems aimed at achievement hunters. You could easily 100% complete this for 1000G in one hour if you know where to go and I expect most of the perceived value to come from this aspect. The gameplay was too boring and repetitive for my sake but an interesting visual style and a haunting soundtrack manage to save the title in the end.
Those who invest the time and effort into The Mooseman will find a deep narrative adventure.
The Mooseman is a solid, short adventure with an interesting aesthetic and subject. It will be a bit simplistic for some people's liking, but if you can get past that (and the abstract nature of the narrative) then the game's presentation of this curious ancient mythology is sure to hold your interest.
This game plays out like a storybook and while it won't satisfy most gamers, those who like to read will enjoy the tale.

The Mooseman tells us a story that is certainly interesting, especially if you are someone who is passionate about each new mythology he discovers, but has serious problems in maintaining interest at the controls despite its short duration.
