An attempt to carry on the legacy of Valve and Turtle Rock falls flat, with a small amount of attention paid to the elements that matter. Poor mission design and A.I is what ruins this experience.

It’s by no means an awful game. The level design is solid, it keeps you on your toes constantly and playing with friends can be a blast. The issue is I’ve no doubt you have similar games in your collection which are similar and much, much better.

Earthfall ends up feeling very middle of the road, and efforts to add progression systems feel about the same. The game has promise, but just don't seem to run anywhere unique or special with the concept.

Earthfall is quite an enjoyable game which has a lot of potential, once some of the bugs are ironed out and the overall game is improved on, I feel that it will make an excellent game and distinguish itself from others in the crowd. I can’t say I recommend this for everyone, but for those looking to scratch that previously mentioned itch, then I couldn’t recommend it more.

Even a couple of interesting quirks can't stop Earthfall from falling flat.

Even though Earthfall isn't revolutionary and doesn't stand tall with top-tier cooperative shooters, there's still some fun to be had with it, especially if you have friends to enjoy it with.

Even though Earthfall is, in most respects, mechanically sound and competently designed, it's still a hard game to recommend. This co-operative FPS never successfully manages to step out of the shadow of its inspiration. The ability to set up defensive measures, including turrets and barricades, is pretty neat. However, that's not enough, particularly when every other moment feels overly familiar and sometimes worse. All in all, this rendition of humanity's last stand won't hold anyone's attention for very long.

Despite providing the foundations of an interesting multiplayer experience, Earthfall massively holds back on its delivery as a Left 4 Dead successor. It instead sits on a shelf amongst other co-operative horde shooters, unable to stand out as anything spectacular or bring anything new to the table.

Even if you miss Left 4 Dead series as hell, it's still a better choice to go for this old series which is now nearly 10 years old. Here aliens have conquered the games and there is no hope.

Earthfall might be a little frustrating if you have high expectations from it, as it suffers greatly from lack of content. But all in all it's a standard 4 player coop shooter that can be very fun.

Co-op alien-blasting shooter, Earthfall, is a decent clone of Left 4 Dead... and that's the problem with it, as it should be much, much more than that. Simply put, the foundation is great, but the structure on top of it is not worth the rent.

Overall, this is a great product with a low price tag and high replay value, and deserves attention. Some more bosses and maybe a mode where aliens are playable would really go a long way for the longevity, though. The lack of any character progression means if the gameplay alone is not enticing enough for some, replaying will not be a worthwhile experience. Earthfall could have taken a couple of notes from Killing Floor 2 in many aspects of prolonging gameplay via progression in a repetitive system, but what it strives for in the "Left 4 Dead" genre, it nails really well. It's exciting to see what the developer does next with content and updates.

Earthfall has some great flashes of fun, but lacks the imagination and balance needed to sustain it for very long.

In the end Earthfall is unfortunately the exception to that age-old rule, originally spoken and then sung by Mary Poppins – ‘a spoonful of co-op makes even the most mediocre of shooters go down'.

Earthfall feels like a science-fiction skin for Left 4 Dead. This isn't inherently a bad thing, after all, people are desperate for a new Left 4 Dead game. Although it does make it easy to compare and see where Earthfall falls short.

Perhaps it is being overly critical of Earthfall with limited lore, and a sense of ease of completion, when the same issues can be found in Left 4 Dead, a title it is easy to sing the praises of. The comparisons are not subtle, yet Earthfall feels more like a missed opportunity to drag the genre forward in similar ways as Vermintide has managed to.

Earthfall often skirts too far into derivative gameplay territory, but at its heart is a game meant for friends to fight off alien swarms while quoting only the cheesiest of sci-fi action film lines. It isn't perfect, but it doesn't have to be in order to be fun.

If you’ve played Left 4 Dead 2 and you enjoyed it, you can buy Earthfall knowing exactly what to expect. There’s no doubt that Earthfall could provide you and your buddies a weekend or two of fun.

A 4-player co-op shooter that looks and plays like a clone of the Left 4 Dead games.

Earthfall is a valiant effort at trying to capture the lightning in a bottle once again that was Left 4 Dead. On paper it does a lot of things right, but in practice it lacks the soul and fire of what made Valve's iconic zombie games so effective almost a decade ago.
