The Persistence, ultimately, is a fine example of both a rinse-and-repeat rogue-like and a first-person horror game.

Interesting take on survival horror +roguelike games that brings something that VR on PS4 still doesn't have. But as a game, there's not much to delve here.

The Persistence is a real gem, as well as one of the most long-lasting and complete virtual reality experiences you can find on PlayStation VR today.

The Persistence isn't anything original but everything it set out to do it pretty much nails. While I wasn't drawn to the story so much the combat and constant variety of new ship layouts kept me engrossed and saying I'll give it one more run. It's a tense, unnerving and action packed romp aboard The Persistence and any fan of horror owes it to themselves to give it a go.

The Persistence is a smart, and genuinely scary, mix of horror and roguelite elements that takes full advantage of VR.

One of the best horror games on PlayStation VR, as well as an impressively inventive first person roguelike that Dead Space fans in particular will appreciate.

The Persistence cleverly blends Dead Space-esque outer-space sci-fi scares with the addictive arcade loop of rogue-lites like Rogue Legacy, resulting in a PlayStation VR campaign that's both gut-wrenching and weirdly replayable. It won't take you a million lightyears to complete the likeable campaign, but a hardcore mode awaits when you've finished, and clever co-op functionality adds a little longevity to the experience as well. With a compelling gameplay format as well as some great gadgetry, this is one survival mission we thoroughly enjoyed.

It doesn't rip up any trees in terms of the horror genre, even in VR, but The Persistence is a game that understands how to deliver proper terror and tension for Sony's virtual reality hardware. Finally, we have a horror game that is fully designed for PSVR and the end result is something pretty special.

Despite the lack of variety over long playthroughs, The Persistence is a sci-fi survival horror that all PS VR owners should have.

In The Persistence, the team at Firesprite have concocted a rogue-lite survival horror whose atmosphere and hard hitting combat feel fantastic in VR. Thanks to an impressive array of comfort options it's also amongst the best PSVR experiences we've had, and for owners of Sony's headset it's damn near essential.

Overall, the progression is solid, but there are a few moments where I felt it was sort of unfair (i.e having to backtrack with no health in sight) due to the procedural generation. You'll want to pick this game up, because while it does have its flaws, there's something incredibly satisfying about sneaking up behind enemies and zapping the stem cells out of their skulls. It's a feeling I encourage all of you to seek out.

The Persistence is an amazing roguelike FPS with full immersion within VR. When you’re not salvaging the ghost-ship “Persistence”, looking for Stem Cells and other useful items, you’ll be either hiding from or taking out the mutated clones who roam the decks of this doomed ship. The only downfall of the game lies within its clarity as the game can get a little fuzzy at times, but this is more than made up for with its incredible stealthy combat mechanics and progression system. The Persistence is great to play on your own but it’s even better to bring along a friend as you work together (hopefully) in order to find a way to regain control of the ship. This is another ‘must buy’ PSVR game which everyone should own.

Survival horror is the perfect fit for virtual reality and The Persistence wants to set the benchmark for how it should be done properly. With full movement, immaculately detailed environments and the genuine feeling of horror, this is one of the best that the genre can offer in VR right now.

The Persistence is terrifying, makes great use of VR and its procedural level creation works great. We also like the local asimetric multiplayer approach.

The Persistence as a horror in VR is quite interesting. It's kind of run-of-the-mill experience, but it still can be unnerving for the player.

Talking to anyone about The Persistence is sure to almost always include comparisons to games like Resident Evil 7 and Dead Space, though it's easy to see how these comparisons exist The Persistence is really doing something completely different. With Sci-Fi. Horror and Rogue-Like characteristics all rolled into one neat little package it's hard to make any real direct comparisons to any of these games.

This is one of the better VR titles available on the PlayStation 4, and the variety at which you get to customise your character paired with the survival horror make it a fun game to play.

The Persistence is among the finest VR experiences to date and may prove to be a game changer for naysayers of the technology. The rogue-lite elements and asymmetric multiplayer are well-integrated into its survival horror gameplay, and serve to add plenty of replay value to an otherwise short experience.
