Yakuza Kiwami 2 wasn’t just a continuation to the first, but a proper successor to the first. Continuing the storyline from where the first left off to implementing a ton of new features and quality of life improvements, and I look forward to seeing The Yakuza Collection (3-4-5) and Yakuza 6 release on the XB1 to continue Kiryu’s tale.

Yakuza Kiwami 2 delivers a slick fresh coat of paint onto this Japanese epic tale, while keeping the same engaging and complex story that fans know and love.

For series veterans, Yakuza Kiwami 2 is a great time but it doesn’t give us anything we haven’t seen many times before, with the usual environments, side-activities, and cutscene-heavy narrative exposition.

Yakuza Kiwami 2 is a contender for the best game in this consistently excellent series. Its crime drama story of family, love, revenge, and pride will have you hooked. Combat has never felt as smooth or involved before, outside of certain moments. This is a gorgeous, fun, heartwarming, and extreme remake of one of the franchise's most beloved entries.

Yes, Yakuza Kiwami 2 is the third Yakuza game for Xbox One this year, but on the strength of this, SEGA can keep them coming as far as I'm concerned. If you've played Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza 0 (and even if you haven't) you need Yakuza Kiwami 2 in your life. You need Kazuma Kiryu and Goro Majima in your life. Now let's have Yakuza 3, 4, 5, and 6 on Xbox, please.

Existing Yakuza fans most likely already know that this is a must buy if you're on the Kiwami train. As for new players looking to jump in, You can go in order, but the game does a good recap of what you missed in the early minutes of the game. Either way, Yakuza Kiwami 2 is a damn good game worthy of your time.

One step above the first Yakuza Kiwami. However, newcomers to the series should still start with Yakuza 0.

An excellent work which brings back one of the most beloved chapters of the saga: highly recommended to all, even to those who have already played it over two decades ago.

If you don’t mind button bashing through some brawls, just to see more of these good fellas solving bad problems with their strong fists and stern words, Yakuza Kiwami 2 is ready, once again, to get ridiculous.

An excellent remake that manages to overcome the flaws of the original and offer a glimpse at what a next gen Yakuza game might look like.

Yakuza Kiwami 2 doesn't hit all the notes of its predecessor, but it's still a gorgeous re-imagining of one of Sega's finest action games.

Yakuza Kiwami 2's soap opera story doesn't have quite the same impact as its predecessors, but a much-needed engine upgrade catapults the series into the modern era and makes for a much smoother experience.

Overall, this is a game that is a high-quality remake based on the Japanese Yakuza. It is entirely in Japanese with English subtitles, and for this type of game that is fine. It makes it feel more authentic to the area we are playing in. The game comes in at $29.99USD on steam and launched today. This is a very good port to PC, and I have been pretty happy with it so far.

Sega's original sequel has received the remake it's due. The story fumbles in places, but its high points allow it to sit next to Yakuza 0 as the best the series has to offer.Kelly Pask

To sum it up, I absolutely fell in love with Yakuza Kiwami 2 and its series in general. While I never thought I would be able to love a game where it’s core component is fighting, I am absolutely glad I decided to give this game a try. While I have to admit there’s something really satisfying about beating up thieves, the story totally threw me off and got me hooked right until the end. Yakuza Kiwami 2 managed to make me care about its characters a lot and surprisingly, the mini-games were unbelievably fun.

Yakuza Kiwami 2 is among the best titles of the series like Yakuza 0. If you haven't got the chance to get yourself involved in world of Yakuza already, this is the perfect time.

Yakuza Kiwami 2 is a pure joy on every level. This game excels in every area that I feel like Western gaming completely fails. It balances amazing gameplay and storytelling seamlessly. This is why it’s so damn good. If you’ve never played a Yakuza game before, you can jump right in at this one with no problem. There is a huge optional story recap at the front of the game that will catch you up to speed. I spent about 30 hours with this one and there is still a ton of stuff to see and do. The bonus content here is crazy, from the Majima side story to the ability to play the 2-player arcade games straight from the main menus. That’s right folks, you and a friend can play Virtual On or Virtua Fighter 2 right from the main menu. This game is worth every penny of the $49.99 price tag and I would recommend this to anyone that loves a good story or open world games. If I could give this bad boy 6 out of 5 stars, I would!
