Torna starts from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and achieves the enviable feat of improving on the original game's experiences, namely on the level of the combat system, allowing for more alternatives, as well as on the game's plot and opening more elements that will grab the players' attention. With refined combat, a far tighter script, and an infinitely more likable cast, Torna - The Golden Country manages to address almost all of Xenoblade Chronicles 2's core problems without ever straying too far from its source. The DLC does still suffer from a few of XC2's flaws, particularly in how it paces its story and handles tone, but Torna is nonetheless a fantastic prequel that helps to fill in the blanks without ever feeling pandering or relying too much on fan service. This expansion is a net positive for the series, showing that Monolith Soft is willing to address criticism in earnest. In many respects, Torna - The Golden Country is the game Xenoblade Chronicles 2 should have been.
Torna ~ The Golden Country marks a wonderful send off to the world of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 with its cast of likeable characters, compelling narrative and a revamped combat engine that feels even better than the original. Having spent more than 150~ hours in the world of Alrest combined through the two titles, I can't help but feeling that I still want more- a desire that serves as undeniable proof to the excellence of this series.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna - The Golden Country is a great companion piece for veteran players and a perfect entry point for series newcomers. A revamped combat system and refined narrative are just icing on the cake.
This DLC is like a love letter to Xenoblade fans. With an exciting story, The Golden Country supplements the original game, and provides a solid finale.

Torna - The Golden Country definitely deserves the attention of all Xenoblade Chronicles 2 fans and JRPG fans who have the Nintendo Switch. Despite some flaws, this is a great opportunity to spend time with pleasure in the company of interesting characters, a beautiful world, fascinating music, addictive gameplay and a story with a touching ending. We look forward to the new game from Monolith Soft.

Whether you've played the deeply storied Xenoblade Chronicles 2 or not, Torna is fantastic for fans and newcomers alike -- an almost impossible task this expansion pulls off with ease.
If you were a fan of the original, you will most definitely enjoy all that Torna has to offer. If you have the expansion pass, you already have this expansion at your disposal. If not, Torna is very much worth a pick up and I highly recommend doing so.
If you're a fan of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 then you must play Torna - The Golden Country.
At the face of it, the new Xenoblade Chronicles 2 standalone DLC, “Torna – The Golden Country,” is both an elaboration on the story for the fans and an entry point for newcomers, yet it is neither of these things in practice. While it’s still got all the fun of the original, albeit in a smaller package, it fails to add anything substantial for new or old. Ultimately, I would only recommend the experience if you’re in need of another Xenoblade kick, but even then I would steer you towards just considering playing New Game Plus on the original game.
Fans of Xenoblade 2 shouldn’t miss out on this expansion, however, it is difficult to recommend it to newcomers or those who didn’t really enjoy the main game. The content offered here is going to be more of the same, but with several notable improvements to the combat, exploration and progression system.
Torna – The Golden Country is a worthy prequel of Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and will change how you view the main game and the “legends” that are told in it. It improves many things and only has a few flaws that set it back from being on par with the original. A fun game for sure and one that I highly recommend to anyone who played Xenoblade Chronicles 2 or enjoys a good RPG.
With Torna - The Golden Country, Monolith Softt have added an extensive chapter to their Xenoblade Chronicles 2, which offers both fans and beginners a lot and presents itself even more playfully than the main game.

Despite being available to buy as a separate stand-alone experience and packing content that could easily fill an entirely new RPG, Xenoblade’s idiosyncrasies make The Golden Country an experience you’re only going get the most out of if you’ve already played the base game.
Torna The Golden Country could have been better if it wasn't for the enforced side quests and the lack of plot twists in the story. However, it's still a good prequel to the great Xenoblade 2 game

A fantastic standalone prequel to the excellent Xenoblade Chronicles 2 that is held back by one really annoying design decision.
If you’re new to 2, then it can be a great starting point if you’re unsure of your commitment to a 100 hour experience, as it’s a wonderful sliver of what the full game offers. And ultimately, I think I’ll look back at it even more favorably than the main questline. Just like the game it’s an addendum to, Torna ~ The Golden Country is an unpolished gem: an experience with rough edges that dazzles in spite of them all.
Torna is a great DLC for fans and newcomers alike. The extra content gives answers to questions you may have had after playing the standard game and makes small gameplay tweaks to make the game extremely accesible for new players and even a better experience for veterans.
