It’s easy to argue that Devil May Cry 5 is the best entry in the series yet. It combines the stylish, fast paced combat that has made the series great since it’s inception with new playable characters, systems and an engaging and well paced story making it an incredibly fun and rewarding game to play through.

Devil May Cry 5 is a fun new hack and slash entry in the series, but it doesn't deliver enough refreshment. This makes the action sometimes feel like you have been there before. But what a lovely place to be kicking demons' back to hell.

Exciting combat, gripping story and breath-taking visuals. Almost every frame is a screenshot material.

Devil May Cry 5 is clearly a game developed for the fanbase, which turned out to be a good job overall but born mainly to make people forget about an unfairly criticized spin-off.

It’s really hard to find a sequel that’s better than this: with a great story, incredible graphic and OST, and a lot of variety in the gameplay, DMC5 truly is a great sequel for the franchise after the not-so-great reboot.

Devil May Cry 5 is a successful sequel and will make series fans happy. The campaign offers some 15 to 20 hours of decent action and good (superficial) entertainment, on a decent level that is usual for the series. In addition, there are again a lot of secret missions, challenges and (for fans) a given replay value. Technically without flaws and presentable you can say - so far everything done right! A little more plot and especially more narrative content in the cutscenes wouldn't have hurt anyway. A more varied mission design would have been desirable. Nevertheless fans will say: It rocks, it bucks - is gambled to the drop!

Devil May Cry 5 is a worthy entry in one of the most beloved franchises in gaming history. While it tends to play it safe in certain areas, it more than makes up for it with its fluid, fresh, and familiar gameplay and over-the-top action.

Is Devil May Cry 5 better than Bayonetta & Bayonetta 2? Of course not, but nothing is. What we have here instead is a pretty damn good action hack-and-slash title featuring three awesome-to -play-as power fantasies that oozes style and substance; something that’s rare in this day and age.

The clash of the different characters, roles and techniques, creates the promise that the series may return to in an almost ideal way, but it is also preparing for the next step.

Devil May Cry 5 is an excellent, almost perfect title, with gameplay at a different level than the rest of the market, which has embraced its fans like no other franchise, and which tastes like victory, but which would have been better to tell from the beginning with a little more difficulty and with the Bloody Palace. For the player who squeezes the saga it is indifferent, but the one who comes for one lap and no more, can be made simple.

DMC is extraordinary from every point of view, finding defects is an arduous thing. The offer of Devil May Cry has never been so full of aesthetic and playful content as in this fifth chapter. The excitement is then amplified by the soundtrack which is one of DMC's trademarks.

I speak for myself here when I say that I loved Ninja Theory’s ideal reboot to the franchise with DmC: Devil May Cry, but has nothing on the series original arc. It’s low risk-high reward accessibility that allows any gamer, casual to hardcore, to easily pick up and play. Fast paced, violence, with blood pumping action, an amazing storyline that ties up loose ends from previous entries, and amazing callbacks, that will have any hardcore DMC fan devilishly grinning from ear to ear.

Devil May Cry 5 is great, not revolutionary, but shows that there is no need for revolution to be great.

Devil May Cry 5 is a testament of Capcom itself. Not only the ship has turned around but in less than a month, the studio have shipped two game of the year contenders. The story of Dante, Nero and V is a refreshing one and the gameplay is easy to learn, and pretty hard to master.

These things aside, as an authentic Devil May Cry experience, DMC 5 absolutely nails it. The fighting is smooth, the graphics stunning and there’s a slick fluidity to the action that makes it a highly refined hack’n’slash and one of the better ones released in this genre for quite some time. Even if you’re not a fan of Devil May Cry, there’s enough here to enjoy and it’s absolutely a title I’d recommend checking out.

I used to think that I was missing something by not playing Devil May Cry games. Beloved series are usually beloved for an obvious reason, after all. If Devil May Cry 5 is any indication of what can be expected from earlier games, though, consider me thoroughly disabused of that notion.

The core of the game certainly does have that classic feeling: uncompromised, ambitious, unique, and bursting at the seams with creativity.

Devil May Cry 5 looks, plays and sounds as pitch-perfect as its bombastic soundtrack. It nails pretty much everything in every department. The combat is super satisfying, with a deep list of skills, abilities and attacks; the story is cheesy but engaging and full of twists; and it is one of the most visually impressive games of this year so far.
