Overall, Music Racer Ultimate is just an average game, but as a rhythm game, it depends mostly on the player whether or not they want to try something different from the indie scene. From my point of view, the game feels lacking and will need a huge amount of improvement to appeal to a larger audience.

Music Racer Ultimate is all flash and no fun. For a music game, the music is okay, but the game itself is not satisfying to play. The rewards aren’t rewarding, the levels are aggravating, and the menus and layout are confusing. This port needed way more time in the oven to ensure that its trip to Xbox would actually feel right at home, not a mobile game that feels like it’s just on a bigger screen.

Music Racer has gone from being a very interesting and rewarding experience on PC and Android, to a fairly simple and at times repetitive experience, for the simple loss of a feature such as the use of our own music. The basis may be the same, but it changes the experience that will now depend on whether or not we connect with the 29 electronic music themes that the game proposes. It is still interesting, but it is better to look at the tracklist first.

WORTH CONSIDERING - Music Racer is a quite reasonable addition to the rhythm game genre. It delivers a visually striking experience, with significantly non-challenging gameplay if desired. The music included is all typical EDM, but many of the songs are quite catchy and what should be expected in this genre. There’s a ton of visual unlocks, but otherwise the progression is pretty lackluster, so don’t expect to be playing this game for countless hours. That being said, for a $6.99 price point, it’s not going to break the bank to have a little fun.

Music Racer is a solid rhythm game with a lot of content for its low asking price, though it’s a shame the custom MP3 upload doesn’t work on consoles.

Music Racer has got an interesting premise, but the execution is somewhat lacking. Its generated setups could use some fine tuning, and the layout of each stage is detrimental to high level play.

It looks lovely and it plays fine, but without its headline feature it winds up largely uninspired.
