Although Underhero will forever be one of my favourite games, the ending worlds do drag on a bit. Despite that, I recommend basically everyone try it, as it will definitely put a smile on your face.

Despite minor flaws with presentation and control, UnderHero proves itself to be a rewarding experience that frequently surprises with its ingenuity and writing. This isn't exactly a 'go out and buy it now' kind of gam, but if you like the sound of it, you likely won't be disappointed by the content on offer here. It's not perfect, but a well-paced story, engaging combat system, and beautiful world make UnderHero a game that rarely disappoints, and we'd recommend it to anybody looking for a good 'deep cut' for their Switch library.

Underhero even replicates the same goofy humour that Paper Mario fans are accustomed to. Dialogue between characters is well written and plenty of laughs are to be had. Underhero is a perfect example of an indie game that can fill the void left by an old favourite, and fans who’ve been waiting patiently for Paper Mario to go back to its RPG roots should definitely take notice.

I honestly don’t think I need to give a precursor to my final verdict. However, I do want to make clear, in each of the categories I broke down above, the game performed phenomenally, I didn’t want to hit you, the reader, over the head in each one by saying “and that’s how they subverted that category while still keeping it interesting” but I will say that all of these things culminate into a beautiful and entertaining game which I would play again and again over years to come. I enjoyed it immensely.

Underhero is a platform game with rpg elements. In his world, the main hero has been defeated, and a subject of the villain Mr. Stitches will take his place. A colorful universe and an incredible soundtrack awaits us in Underhero.

If you're looking for a refreshing title, Underhero will deliver on this font with its original premise of an RPG-platformer hybrid, but some of its gameplay elements could have been improved upon.

Underhero serves as a reasonable replacement until Nintendo decides the future of its papercraft franchise.

Twisting turn-based combat and the adventurous staples of the genre, UnderHero proves to be refreshing in a fashion similar to a certain pulpy plumber.

Underhero is a lovingly designed indie title with lots of attention to detail. If you look at the conversations around the colleagues of 745, it is fun to listen to them. It doesn't seem to be a burden to talk to all monsters, no, you want to talk to everybody and get to know the world around the Underhero better. The bouncing passages are the shortcoming of the game. Not only once did the inaccuracy of the jump drive me crazy. But in the end I kept going until I mastered the last jump, even though it took me several years of my life. The fights were a lot of fun. I immediately remembered the Paper Mario parts where dodging and learning the attack patterns was part of survival. If you want to play a mixture of platformer and roleplaying game, spiced with a fun and exciting story, you definitely won't go wrong with Underhero.

While there are plenty of games keeping us busy these days, Underhero is one that should be on your radar at some point. The light price tag and unending charm make it a sleeper hit and one I can whole-heartidly recommend.

Underhero creatively weaves platforming, turn and timing-based combat, and adventure elements into a gorgeous and inspired experience. Even though it relies a little too much on circuitous paths and the slingshot weapon is frustrating to aim, it's hard not to smile the entire time you're playing Underhero. It's another in the long list of amazing, must-play indie titles that every Switch owner needs to take a long look at. If nothing else, who hasn't wanted to peak behind the curtain at the everyday machinations of an evil overlord and his scores of minions?.

Underhero is a memorable and charming little adventure. By constantly mixing things up, the gameplay never feels stale. And the plot twists your expectations in ways you would have never seen coming.

From the story, to the general action, to the fact that its combat is turn-based with timing-based bonuses akin to the likes of Super Mario RPG and others, UnderHero is plain different...

Underhero is humble indie game that pleases almost every fan of the genre. There are some issues here and there that prevent it from becoming a hit, but there is obvious unreached potential that can be fully reached if the developers are willing to give it more time and attention in the future.

And while there weren’t many issues I had with this game the controls were definitely one of them. The platforming controls were stellar for the level design but for combat, it was definitely weird.

Underhero created a new concept of combat that worked absolutely perfect, brings out a very colorful world and a new take on hero stories by making the underling the new crowned hero, with a heartwarming and well done story and music to set the atmosphere this game excels in every corner, truly a work of art.
