Starting with the building and management aspect of the game the biggest issue is that this isn’t any sort of sandbox situation, what you’re ultimately doing is just filling in some blanks as you progress with little room for flair or meaningful decisions beyond a minor focus in your stat modifiers...

the experience was pleasant, but it left me wanting for something better. A great conceptual foundation alone did not translate to a strong enough incentive to keep me playing. For me, this is a pass, but only barely, since I’m comparing it with the newer, better games coming out. I'm hoping that there's a sequel with more polish at some point in the future.

A shallow attempt at a management simulator that looks promising, but rewards your patience with an empty world, a lack of features that would make the game fun and a completely joyless cast of characters. Avoid!

On an overall, Valthirian Arc: A High School Story will probably remain a hidden treasure to a lot of people because of its pacing. While I wish there was more depth to the simulations as there really isn’t much else to do but place a building and upgrade it once it’s time, it’s a light feature that compliments the Quests and Errands as each building grants boosts from attack, defense to experience or item gains.

My final thoughts on the game is that it was surprisingly fun. Its spriteful design is bright and colorful to match its flavorful school life simulation. The only negative feed back that I would have to say is that the dungeons become pretty repetitive. They would have the same look to most of them with slight variations to the environment. It was kinda... Plain? But in the end Valthirian Arc: Hero School Story was a 8 out of 10 for being totally entertaining.

Valthirian Arc: Hero School Story is an incredibly addictive and entertaining take on a fantasy academy simulator. When you’re not running the day-to-day business of building facilities and watching over your students, you’ll be gearing them up and sending them on many quests into the unknown. The difficulty does spike quite drastically if you’re unprepared and don’t have the best teachers within your grounds – however, the only punishment for defeat is the loss of time you could have spent more constructively.

Valthirian Arc: Hero School Story is not the flashiest or most robust RPG around. But it does possess a lot of charm thanks to the unique setting and mixture of game styles.

There is no voice-acting which isn’t surprising and while the ambient music and sound effects are forgettable, overall I am satisfied on the full experience I’ve had over a week of playing. I’m repeating myself but this is an addictive game for sure. So while I say that, some may not agree and I completely understood their opinions. Repetitive gameplay, no voice acting, and a browser-like game quality isn’t the most attractive thing in the world especially with Red Dead Redemption 2 coming out after this. But if repetitive gameplay, simple core mechanics, building tools is at the very least an attractive thing for you, then I suggest to waste no time and grab this!

Valthirian Arc: Hero School Story tries to mix many genres and manages to be slightly fun in everything, despite its many issues keeping it from being anything special.

Valtherian Arc is an enjoyable experience that simply needed a bit more polish to be really effective. Unlocking new classes and skills is fun and offers a fresh change in the combat. While there are some frustrating features and gameplay mechanics, Valtherian Arc can still be fun for many players.

A very generic RPG with city building elements and a dodgy control system.

There's nothing unpleasant about Valthirian Arc: Hero School Story. It's easy to pick up and play for short bursts, and as a simulator, its simplicity makes for a nice change of pace. It's also charming and actually does offer an intriguing world and narrative. In just about every area, the game could also have been much more than it is, but everyone needs inoffensive time wasters too, and Valthirian Arc scratches that itch nicely.

I didn't like the game at first since it didn't look that great and the gameplay loop didn't grab me at first, but the more I played, the more the concept grew on me. I ended up having fun completing the main quests while the side-quests were taken care of, well, on the side. Valthirian Arc: Hero School Story is a budget release that mixes a hero school sim with a lite action-RPG, and it is thusly offered at a budget price of $15, so if you're looking for a different type experience, this one is certainly going to fit the bill.

While providing an enjoyable casual experience, Valthririan Arc: Hero School Story only puts in enough effort for a passing grade.

Valthirian Arc: Hero School Story is one of those strange games that can easily consume hours of your time in one sitting. The strange mix of management and adventure makes for a fun distraction. The graphics are cute, the music is good, and the characters are charming if a little odd. If you want something fun to dip in and out of instead of a monumental task, then this may well be what you are looking for.
