For the most part, Luigi’s Mansion is a great and welcome port on 3DS with many neat new features and additions to enhance and add longevity to the overall game.

Returning to the haunted estate after seventeen years should feel outdated, but Luigi´s Mansion deserves its rightful remake on the Nintendo 3DS. Not one ounce of charme has been lost in the faithful handheld port as Luigi screams and tumbles through his spooky adventure. With some minor control issues aside, the gameplay is still as it was back in the day.

Freeing Luigi's Mansion from the GameCube's back catalogue, Grezzo's remake of the game for 3DS is fantastic, going far beyond a simple port. That said, the 3DS isn't always the best home for the ghostbusting action and the controls feel a bit too slow and awkward when it counts.

If you've never adventured with Mario's lankier brother throughout his haunted mansion exploits, Luigi's Mansion 3DS is absolutely worth the price of admission. In fact, even if you tore through it when it first made its debut, it's fun to recruit a friend to go through it with you again – perhaps one of you can pretend the other is Mario in spirit, looking for himself? In any case, with Luigi's Mansion 3 on the horizon, it's good to be able to play the entirety of the two-game series so far on one system, and if you need a lighthearted romp for Halloween, this will certainly do the trick...or treat.

Luigi's Mansion was great when it first arrived, and this remake is even more polished and complete than the first. There are a lot of problems with the controls in the game, but the creative and diverse gameplay combined with a beautiful bevy of graphics make the experience worth the frustration.

Luigi's Mansion proves that there's still life in the 3DS, even as the Switch seems positioned to become its replacement.

Although its release on 3DS doesn't provide much new content, Luigi's Mansion is clearly a classic. Its clever level design and fun characters certainly hold up after 17 years, even if the graphics may not. This release seems best suited for those new to the game, but it can be enjoyed by all Luigi fans.

Though it isn’t the Switch remake many had hoped for, Grezzo delivers a solid and well-polished 3DS port. While it would have been great to see the Hidden Mansion alter its content with new areas unlocked, Luigi’s Mansion remains best as a spooky near-episodic adventure, packed full of fun, with moments of humour, mischief and magic. If you enjoyed the original, there’s no way you’d miss this.

Luigi's first appearance as a ghost hunter hasn't lost any of his charm and is still a great pleasure in 2018 - but he's clearly the loser compared to his successor on the same console.

It's still a great game and definitely worth playing especially now that it's portable, but it's a shame it was released for 3DS and not Switch.

As far as remakes go, Luigi’s Mansion shines as a 3DS title, leaving much of what made the original so great intact while adding a few things here and there that really make it stand out on 3DS. The visuals did take a few hits, and the controls provided by the 3DS make elements a little more difficult at times, but overall I found myself enjoying my trek through the mansion once again, especially since I could finally see it all in 3D.

After all these years, Luigi's Mansion it would be an even more enjoyable game, if it wasn't for a problematic controller scheme. But still, it's an unforgettable adventure in a funny little world.
