If you're tired of Payday 2's often loud and at-large robbery antics – and you'd like to take a detour into the more quiet vocation of thievery – Thief Simulator has the new career for you. While it's not the prettiest of games and it soon starts repeating itself, the sense of freedom you're given to rob neighbourhoods full of unsuspecting victims is still an intriguing one. He might not be Garrett, but The Thief has plenty of skills to steal a place on Nintendo Switch.

Like most people, I have always been a fan of the kind of game that lets me go anywhere and do anything. I find that I will spend hours doing the most menial of tasks: fishing for example. Whilst I don't like fishing games, I love fishing in an open world…. I'm aware how odd that sounds.

Thief Simulator gives you the skills to turn you into a burglar – something that’s quite unique on the Switch. The game is easy to pick up and play, requiring some patience and skill to master.

Thief Simulator VR is just Thief Simulator as a VR port. There have been no improvements made over the original PC version to justify getting it in VR. Even if the gameplay is fun, and the sense of realism has been carried over from the PC game, there are numerous VR-specific problems that will quickly break the immersion. It's a largely uncomfortable experience that has a lot of technical issues.
