Sid Meier's Civilization VI - Console Edition Reviews
Sid Meier's Civilization VI is a fantastic addition to the Nintendo Switch library. It brings one of the best games on PC to Nintendo's handheld with little compromise. Sure there's no online multiplayer and the Rise and Fall expansion is missing, but everything else about the core game is present and correct, especially in that it's as addictive as ever, in fact probably even more so.
Civilization VI has been one of the most demanding experiences I’ve ever played and while the barrier to entry will be intimidating to newcomers, it’s a game that rewards those willing to put in the time. You wouldn’t think a PC series would work so well on the Nintendo Switch but Firaxis has accomplished quite the feat and delivered one of the strongest third-party offerings the console has seen.
Shrinking such a dense game onto a smaller system and making it work with game-pad controls is no mean feat, and Aspyr’s port of Civilization VI feels like a perfect introduction to the series while also offering a new way to play for experienced fans.
While Civilization VI on Nintendo Switch lacks online multiplayer, it's amazing to see how well it runs on the handheld console even with its limited technical abilities. With brilliantly adapted UI elements and controls for the Nintendo Switch, Civilization VI almost feel as native to the hybrid console as it is to the PC.
If you allready played a Civilization game it is more of the same, but nevertheless the empire building sim keeps its addictive charms.

If I had to bring just one Switch game to a deserted island, it would without a doubt be this one. And I know that I will continue to love this entry, this game, and this franchise for many ages to come.
Although it doesn’t include all the PC game’s extra content, Civ VI comes to the PS4 and Xbox with both the Rise and Fall and Gathering Storm expansions and the latter in particular is a literal game changer. I can certainly imagine using Civ VI as an engaging educational tool to consider the many competing forces around climate change.
If you are hungry for a good 4X title, you need not look further than Sid Meier’s Civilization VI. Its namesake is the literal benchmark for 4X games for a reason, and Civilization VI only cemented this fact on PC, and now on console. Controls may take a bit to get used to, but other than that there are very few reasons you anyone to not to pick it up.
With the exception of the missing online play, Civ VI is - for better or worse - a faithful and complete port of the PC experience. It's disappointing to be stuck primarily playing with AI but there's a lot to love about Civ VI's single player experience, and playing on Switch turns out to be a solid way to experience the rise and fall of entire civilizations.
Sid Meier's Civilization VI on the Nintendo Switch is a huge success.
Civilization VI is essential. Not only is it a game that's educational, informative, and inspirational (see my video above for more thoughts around that), but it's also deeply pertinent to today's world and gives players a way of seeing - and grappling - with the topic on their own terms.
We've been waiting too long for civilization to return to consoles... But it works. Each turn sucks in, and a multitude of options allows you to enjoy alliances, research and, of course, wars. Play!

I already know that this will be my most-played game on the Switch over the longer term. Once you start playing Civilization, it has the most incredible ability to make you lose all sense of time, and desire to play anything else. I was marginally worried about whether the port to the Switch would result in too many compromises, but there have been none and, for the first time since Civilization 2 from way back on the PlayStation, we have a proper Civilization title on console. That's something special.
The Switch edition of Civilization VI brings the full (base) Civ experience to a handheld. For this alone it's an essential purchase for strategy players, but the interface and presentation make this one of the best games on the console on its own merits.
Still, it’s clear to see that Civ 6 is going to be one of my most-played Switch games, because that’s just the kind of game it is. You can’t say no to one more turn, and I can already foresee many times where my feet fall asleep in the bathroom. TMI?
"Rise & Fall"and "Gathering Storm" are packed into the console version, the gameplay experience and controls work perfectly. Considering all above, it's a must-buy for every Civilization game fans.

Civilization VI on consoles is as good as an experience as it could be - it's an essential game and the fact that it's now available to a wider audience is a great thing.
A brilliant port and a brilliant game. There aren't any real issues with the game whatsoever and nothing that would put you off purchasing it. If you are a fan of the series or even interested in the Civilization series, it is a must buy!
