Rebellion brings us a version of the third part of his star franchise to the Nintendo Switch, and does it as completely as possible, with all the DLC content released to date, and with a technical part that shows that it has received enough polishing. There is still some things to sort, like the inconsistent enemy AI, but despite this, the game is perfectly enjoyable and occupies a gap in the catalog of the console that needed to be covered.

This score is ultimately a reflection of both Sniper Elite 3 Ultimate Edition the game (which is excellent) and the Nintendo Switch hardware (which while also excellent, I found not up to this task when trying to play handheld). The determination here is: if you're happy to play this game with your Switch in console mode, you're in for a grand old time; if you want to keep things handheld, better to try something else.

Sniper Elite III Ultimate Edition is an excellent port of the original game and feels right at home on the Switch. Unfortunately, repetitive gameplay prevents it from achieving greatness. Nevertheless, I would like to pin the Thumb Culture Silver Award over its heart.

Thanks to a series that genuinely gets better with every iteration, Sniper Elite 3 remains one of the best snipers sims of this generation

GREAT - Sniper Elite 3: Ultimate Edition is a high quality port with a lot of effort put in. It looks fantastic and runs perfectly smooth, offers all of the content of the original release, including DLC, and the open nature of the game boosts its replay value. Dumb A.I. does detract slightly from the overall experience, but the game still provides plenty of fun.

I understand some players are getting tired of ports, but Sniper Elite 3 Ultimate Edition is a truly fantastic addition to the Nintendo Switch library. For a console lacking third-person shooters, this is a truly entertaining game with hours of content. The sniping mechanics are some of the most interesting found in any game I’ve played. Getting into close-quarters combat is a bit boring and along with various glitches does damper Sniper Elite 3 overall. Luckily, these issues don’t hold it back from being an enjoyable stealth-based third-person shooter. Now get out there and go blast some bullets into Nazi skulls, that’s an order!

Sniper Elite III: Ultimate Edition gets part of the job done: the sniper component is well done, the game has a very good performance no matter where it is played and there's plenty of content that will keep the players happy. Things start going south with the game's wasted potential, plus its AI problems that can make the challenge inadvertently easier than it should and problems in some sections of the maps end up making this work fall below its expected level. That doesn't stand in the way of this being a welcome addition to the Nintendo Switch catalogue when it comes to sniper action games.

While Sniper Elite 2 had a certain visceral thrill to it the way its missions were set up and the fact that when you weren't looking through your scope you felt very vulnerable held it back a bit...

There are few things in modern video gaming that are as perversely satisfying as popping a Nazi's testicles from halfway across a battlefield, so break out your M1 Garand and get reducing the Reich’s virtual headcount, because this game is well worth a look, despite its shortcomings.

If you're into this genre of shooters then you are in for a real treat. This game is poles apart from Call of Duty or Battlefront, and that's a great thing. It's tactical, it's slower-paced and it's incredibly enjoyable to sink into and engage with.

If you’ve played Sniper Elite 3 before, there’s not a whole lot new to this latest version beyond the motion controls and portability, but in fairness, that’s as significant an update you can get without changing the game’s base structure. There’s no doubt we’ll be getting more of this series on Switch in the future, and hopefully, that will include the next Zombie Army spinoff. For now, having another round of Nazi skull-exploding sniper shots playing out in slow motion X-Ray form shows it never gets old, no matter what the format.

There are loads of content on offer here. If you rush through the main game you can finish in around 8 hours, but you’ll more likely spend somewhere between 15 and 30 hours working your way through the campaign. The extra single player missions are really nice and show how good Rebellion is at crafting stories.

This port to Nintendo Switch still works. Sniper Elite 3 is an old game (it was released five years ago), even though this game is a good choice to have fun wherever you want.

Sniper Elite 3 Ultimate Edition acquits itself nicely on Nintendo Switch. It looks good, it performs solidly, there's a couple of nice tweaks made for the Switch, and there's a wealth of great stealthy sniping content to be found within this compilation. Really it's a fairly standard feeling port, but alongside the V2 remaster, it's a good excuse to revisit the series and see how far it's evolved.

It's still not as good as Sniper Elite 4, but years of patches and DLC have improved it to the point where this is a viable alternative for Switch owners.

Overall, I had fun with the game. At times the controls proved to be difficult with the handheld mode, so I switched to having the Switch docked and used the controller on the TV instead. The aiming function takes a little bit of time to get adjusted to after having played other shooters before this one. Sniper Elite III: Ultimate Edition releases on October 1st for $39.99.

If you’ve never played Sniper Elite 3 before, like third-person shooters laced with stealth and have ever wondered what a bullet does to a person’s insides as it rips through them, definitely pick it up. Chances are you won’t be disappointed.

Sniper Elite 3 Ultimate Edition is a nice port of Sniper Elite 3 with all the DLC included. The gameplay is tactical and requires patience, which may not be for everyone. Some tasks and situations can be frustrating, but you can still have a good time.
