If you've ever had more than enough time for a movie, but not enough to finish a season of your favorite TV show, then you know the pleasure of watching a mini-series. That's precisely the feeling that Bladed Fury will give you, as it will charm you with the fluid, fast-paced combat, tease you with the beautiful and surreal art-style, and then leave you wanting for more at the end of the short campaign.
While side-scrolling slashers have been around for quite some time, and tend to show up in some abundance, I’ve more often than not been disappointed by them historically...
Bladed Fury is a decent side-scrolling action game, but the content is not full enough, while the action system needs more improvements too. However, considering the low price and the product orientation, those defects are acceptable.

Bladed Fury is the type of game that delights for its beauty and theme, but leaves a little to be desired in repetitive gameplay. Still, it remains a great side-scrolling action title that deserves your attention.

Bladed Fury is a considered and exciting 2D action game. It lives and dies by its fast-paced, enjoyable combat while also packing in a short but interesting mythology themed story. While not breaking new ground, it does create a great frame for the action. Running with its Vanillaware inspiration as a badge, this game comes out very strong at the end and is a must for 2D action fans.
Bladed Fury’s striking visual style and satisfyingly slick combat come together nicely to make for a really fun action-orientated romp. Sure, it was guilty of being a bit too easy and there were some technical issues here and there, but they didn’t stop me from having a thoroughly good time as I sliced-and-diced my way through countless foes in Ji’s journey for revenge.
Bladed Fury is a game with a charm and style all its own, even on a budget. Its incredible animations and designs inspired by ancient China are a delight, as well as its frantic and dynamic gameplay. It has some questionable design decisions and can be very short, but thanks to its excellent price it is a recommended purchase that is well worth it.

Bladed Fury is a very interesting action game, with a well built world and simple and fun mechanics. The linearity and the little challenge in the middle of the levels are a bit annoying, but it has striking battles against bosses, a very pleasant gameplay and a beautiful look, reminiscent of a work of art. It is a short and interesting adventure for those looking for simple and satisfying fun.

Bladed Fury is pretty straightforward, but don’t think that’s a bad thing. You’re getting good visuals, a decent soundtrack, a bland but passable plot, a short duration and a great combat system for a fair price. You’re not getting a groundbreaking metroidvania experience, but in no moment you’ll feel like you haven’t gotten your money’s worth out of it.
Bladed Fury doesn't break any new ground, but it's got its 2D hack and slash fundamentals down to a science. Its beautiful hand-drawn art style and great enemy designs bring its mythological rendition of ancient China to life, even when its story fails to.
Bladed Fury certainly has some flaws, be it extremely linear levels, arguably cheap bosses, and short (about four hours, though it can easily be done in two), but it isn't a bad experience. The art and design are interesting enough to suck players in and not let go, with bosses at least offering an engaging experience. It would be nice to see more depth or additional play styles but the base game is at least fun.
This competent knock-off won't stick around in anyone's memory after playing it, but Bladed Fury has a strong foundation and the action feels satisfying to play. However, the droll story is a hard sell for anyone not familiar with Chinese history. The art, though, is very good - almost as good as the Vanillaware titles that inspired it. From a certain angle, it might pass as the real thing.
Bladed Fury’s console debut has not gone unnoticed. This is a great game that takes clear inspiration from Vanillaware action games. It’s mindless hack-and-slash with a purpose and is exceptionally fun in short bursts. I ended up playing for the challenge and boss battles alone; the environments and plot were engaging enough to see the adventure through until the end.
If you’re really in a pinch, you won’t hate it. Bladed Fury is short, affordable, and a very cool art show with questionable fan service.
Whilst Bladed Fury was a joy to look at, I feel it was let down slightly where it counts. This isn’t to say it is a bad game, or even an incompetent one. It just felt like a lot of games that came before. It is certainly worth checking out for the gorgeous visuals and atmosphere, and the story is pretty decent as well. Just don’t expect anything too fancy or groundbreaking in the combat.
It's hack and slash combo system adds depth through replayability challenge modes and boss rush modes but is otherwise repetitive in single playthroughs. Along with that, the game suffers from occasional lag and stutters, and I even experienced a single hard crash. Bladed Fury is worth checking out as its run time is short and the story tells of the rich Asian culture that is the warring states period, but ultimately it stumbles to find its footing in the long run.

Combat is not terribly deep and the precision strike system is no implemented well, though the Soul Sliver system adds a unique touch to it. Bladed Fury is a good-looking hack 'n slash platformer that tells a decent tale and is set in an engrossing period of history that's been nicely infused here with mythological and supernatural elements. It's Soul Sliver mechanic adds plenty of scope for strategic combat shenanigans and its levels have a few good ideas thrown into the mix. However, all of these positive aspects are let down by poor implementation, dull enemies who don't force you to utilise your moveset, bland and repetitive area layouts, simplistic platforming and constant technical issues that plague combat just as it's starting to up the ante. If the framerate issues are addressed this one may be worth a look for fans of the genre, otherwise it's hard to recommend in its current state.
